1997 vs Florida and the similarities are eerily undeniable. That Florida team was also on record pace scoring 82 in their second game with Doug Johnson breaking NCAA records only playing halves of games (7 TDs in one half). That team featured the SECs two most dangerous weapons in Jacques Green and Fred Taylor, the nations top DC Bob Stoops in his second season with the Gators. Even the numbers are so very close.

Gerry Dinardo - 29 games into his LSU stint with a 21-7-1 record
Coach O- 29 games 22-7 at LSU
Scoring
Bama 18- 54.1 ppg
Florida 97- 49.4 ppg

Defense
Bama 18- 15.9 ppg
Florida 97- 13.4 ppg

Point differential
Bama 18- 38.2 ppg
Florida 97- 36 ppg

Score vs toughest opponent
Bama 18- 45-23 vs #22 ATM
Florida 97- 33-20 vs #4 Tenn

Recent history
Bama - 3/5 SEC titles
Florida 97- 4/5 SEC titles

Record setting QBs
Tua- 258.3 ypg 25 TDs in 8 games
Johnson - 265 ypg 20 TDs in 5 games

We’ve been in this position before and our guys rose up and shocked the world. Let’s do it again.

We’d always go into that game hyped and Florida would just stop our run game cold and crush us. That night the first drive when Faulk gained a nice chunk early you knew it was going to be different.

lol they printed shirts that said "You always remember your first time in Tiger Stadium" and it had the score and date I suppose. Wish I had gotten one way back when.

Cedrick Donaldson and reincarnation of the Chinese’s bandits. It may take some outside the box thinking on defense like that until White gets into the game. Maybe Phillips and Joseph in hybrid roles with a lot of DBs on the field playing bend but don’t break and stopping the big play at all cost.

What is even crazier is we went 9-3 that year, co-champs of the western division, finished 13th in AP poll...and played in the Independence Bowl.

lol I remember students taking their keys out and on the after show Jim Hawthorne was like IDK what they were doing! And Doug had to say "I think they're saying start the bus" or something like that.

And my husband CAMPED OUT for tickets to the Indy Bowl! lol

the great ron franklin called that game

" faulk has 5, has 10"

todd mcclure was so pumped up. that was one of the best o lines in LSU history though. along with 1987 and 2003.

Came out flat vs ole miss the week after Florida and choked the Auburn game when Cecil ran all over them. Inexcusable

This thread was bringing back some nice memories, then you went ahead and ruined it.

Good to see you back, Madking.
