Everyone does their own thing, but it typically has to be released in that calendar year, and DLC/expansions aren't usually considered unless someone has their own category for that. Giant Bomb does their GOTY deliberations with like 20 or so categories.

That brings up a pet peeve I have. I know it's petty but I can't stand seeing people that start a business and then just use a gmail address.

If you want to look more professional and have people take you seriously it's really easy to go to 1and1, google for business, or Rackspace and get a domain and email server for very cheap.
I literally just emailed someone in VA on a property I need a bid on that is set up like that.

My current general email is still sicboy with "mmm" in some fashion and I never thought to mess with it until my old company used it for some contact info, and then it started showing up in linkedin. I never saw it personally but my MIL said she came across it and advised me to find something more professional. I wasn't looking at the time but it was good advice. Just something I honestly wouldn't have considered until I started job hunting, but that garbage one was already out there.
