Anyone have a great chili recipe? Just got tasked with making this for tomorrow evening and it isn't something I have cooked often. TIA!

First you must read the famous chili thread.
Famous Chili Thread
You'll find some recipes in this thread. I'm still using the one from Cook's Country posted in this thread.

It makes me happy that you still keep that thread in your back pocket

The Mexene recipe on the back of the chili powder jar is in the recipe book and is a great start.
A little unsweetened chocolate or coffee can add a hard to identify flavor that is delicious.
Use masa flour in a slurry to thicken. That's one of those mysterious flavors that adds an authentic touch.

I can't resist that one or the Natchitoches red beans thread.

The Cooks Country recipe I have in the link above uses ground tortilla chips and the resulting flavor is similar. I've used the Mission chips or some from a Mexican restaurant. Works out well.

If you are looking for an easy sure fire 100% no miss great chili, get a McCormick original chili packet, 1lb of lean ground beef, 16oz plain tomato sauce, 1/2 can of dark red beans (trappeys is my favorite). Follow the directions on the chili packet. That makes chili for three adults.
Multiply by five to easily make a pot of chili to feed 12-14.
Super super easy. You will not fail. Everyone will love it.
It really is that easy.

The fairly common ingredient that a lot of people don’t think about is chicken broth. Shocked me when I was looking a chili recipes a few years ago and now I never make chili without it.

Powerman probably read this thread and took a handful of pills.
And I like Fritos instead of tortilla chips.

Would you mind explaining the difference between Natchitoches Red Beans and NOLA Red Beans?
I was considering starting a thread on it but maybe we can solve it here.
[edit]: get your beef, pork, deer or whatever chili cut. The texture is a huge upgrade from ground beef.

I wasn't the one who downvoted you, but I'd like a succint explanation. I don't want to read all that.

I gave you the assignment. I’m not doing the homework for you.
And my skin is thick enough to not worry about who votes what.

Thanks for your contribution, but I asked Gris Gris.

I see. I’ll just go make a sandwich. She’ll be around shortly.

I second this..Get the Hot flavor. For the diced tomatoes I get the fire roasted.

GG thanks for posting those old links. I was going to make Fajitas this weekend but, I am shifting gears to to make chili! I just need to decide which recipe.
After reading and laughing throughout the thread I now want to make carnitas and a chili for hot dogs only. Thank god cool weather is coming in.

Just asking for a chili recipe is tough. How do you like it? Hot? Sweet? Beans? No beans?

My response would have the same as Martini’s. I would have linked the famous thread which, in my opinion, demonstrates there is no such thing as Natchitoches red beans. Apache Driver just makes strange red beans.
