Anyone have success at this lake recently...went yesterday and blanked. Pitched a jig, crig, cranked, topwater, and arigged a little. Grass is beautiful. Just looks awesome, but was a garhole

bass disease hit that lake hard. government funding dried up as far as management too.

Was stacked when they first opened up
They had to start restricting the amount of boats per day due to demand.
Basically got fished out

Sad. It is an awesome place.

It’s a beautiful lake for sure and only 6 miles from my house. When it first opened limits were easy. The last several years catching has become increasingly difficult. It’s still fished hard which doesn’t help. I gave up on it for awhile. Calling Panther and Percy Quinn aren’t far and are good alternatives.

Have read that the way the lake was built didn't give it much spawning potential for it's size. Not enough shallow water. Can't support good bream numbers, and now has crappie in it making things worse. People still catch it's just not near what it should be.

We do pretty good on the crappie in there.

It was jam up when it first opened. Limits every time. Word spread quick and it was just fished out. Has never been able to recover. As another poster said I don't think there is enough shallow water there. I do know they constructed a lot of beds for bream.

How is calling panther? It’s abiut 45 mins from my house but I’ve never been.

Supposed to be the best big fish lake in MS, but it is small and gets hammered with pressure. Everyone I know who has fished it either talks about it like it’s Mecca or swears it’s empty. Kind of a theme in south MS, once word gets out, it’s too late.

I’ve always caught fish there. It’s like a mini okhissa with all the timber. It’s much harder to fish though. You need good trolling motor batteries and strong line. There are submerged trees everywhere.
