HBO has announced that all of its shows featuring sexually intimate scenes henceforth will have a monitor known as an “intimacy coordinator” on set.

quote:

On The Deuce, coordinator Alicia Rodis reviews scripts, discusses the sex scenes before they are filmed and talks to the actors individually, coordinating their activities. She also elicits the actor’s personal boundaries to make sure “consent is informed and certain before we move forward,” she told Rolling Stone. Rodis is essentially an advocate for the actors with the production team on any issues.

If I recall on the late night spanktravision flicks, the chicks pretty much grind on dudes belly buttons, so I dodn't really see whats necessary to look out for. also, all these aspiring actresses are pretty much volunteering to get their tops off and will to do whatever it takes to break through. If anythings these intimacy coordinators will be telling the aspiring starlets to take it down a notch, not the directors.

I don't think on camera sex is where Hollywood's problem is?

In fact actually I wonder why the feminists aren't screaming "her body, her choice" when it comes to these Hollywood women who CHOOSE to sleep with men to get more/better roles ?

Who signs her checks? Yeah, that's to whom she's going to be loyal.

I am confused. Are they giving consent to have pretend sex or are they giving consent to have real sex?

I think they mean consent to where and how they can touch each other's bodies when they simulate sex.

How do you not realize there is about to be a sex scene when you are already hired for the part?

Every actress alive has to do a sex scene at some point. I guess what they're trying to get away from are these "brilliant" actors and directors that basically use the set as their own personal rape fantasy, like in Last Tango in Paris

I really don't see a problem with this.

If a woman is doing a sex scene, she might be willing to go to a certain point. But while filming, if she just tells the other party what she is comfortable or not comfortable doing, they are the only ones who know and if that person goes beyond the point the woman said she was willing to go, if they are in the middle of filming it would see as if it would be hard for her, on the spot, to say stop it.

Or it just all happens so fast, before she could even say anything, she is in a position she doesn't want to be in.

If there is a 3rd party on the set, who knows exactly what each person is willing to do, if it quickly turns into something else... That 3rd party is there to stop it. What's wrong with that?

If only movies had some kind of written list of actions the people on set were supposed to perform...

I'll do this job. Will it be unprofessional to stroke it during the scene?

Anyone remember the old HBO series, "Tell Me You Love Me"? Horribly depressing stuff, but I was pretty convinced that Michelle Borth was having legitimate sex in some of those scenes.

Production assistant, "The Intimacy Coordinator says the actress doesn't want to do the scene as written."

Director, "Tell the Intimacy Coordinator to tell the actress if I don't see her naked arse grinding on set in 5 minutes, they're both fired."

This is a PR move that means nothing except give the studio a veneer of respectability.
