The word is pronounced like number 1.
The street in NOLA is number 2.

Same with malpomene

Calliope isn't the only Muse street we butcher:

Melpomene and Terpsichore are also butchered pretty badly, too.

Hell I've heard different pronunciations of New Orleans' city name by native New Orleanians.


"New Aw luhns"
"New Aw lee uhns"
