Oliver is great and id love to have him but Tillery woukd fit the defense better.
Mullen was a heavy lean for a long time and most felt FSU was the primary comp but Clemson was lying in the weeds and a late visit won him. He is a guy pro scouts love. Cb stats arent always a measure of their effectiveness.
Weve had some misses but weve always rebounded well. Last year passing on Goodrich was a mistake and hopefully one learned so it doesnt happen in the DL this cycle.

I'll take Greedy, Fulton and Delpit.

IMO, the recruit (that is currently active on a college team) that I most wish LSU would have signed is Ed Oliver. ((( caveat - only considering guys that seemed genuinely interested in LSU during their recruitment ))) Having him joining our D-Line corps would elevate this 2018 defense to true elite status.

Ed Oliver plays in the secondary?

I thought I read where Clemson's Trayvon Mullen is making some mock draft 1st rounds? Isn't he the Florida kid that was committed to LSU but was backburned for someone else?
You might be thinking of Mario Goodrich. He wasn't quite backburner'd, we told him with Surtain numbers were too tight and I doubt seriously he is in mock draft as a freshman.

But it does fit the general bill of what you are getting at.

Misses! You must be joking! We lead the nation/SEC in INT’s, we #1 in the SEC in passing yards allowed. Obviously we are DBU with the players we got! Who cares about misses when we stacked with first round pics!

Agreed, it would be interesting to hear if Oliver has any regrets, but he would be that impactful guy up front making the back 7 even better. Heck imagine if he was a Tiger and Chaisson was healthy.....turn out the lights!

Has Goodrich seen any snaps for Clemson this season?

Goodrich plays mostly on special teams covering kickoffs.

You do realize that it's possible to have a good secondary AND admit that you had some recruiting misses, don't you?

Call me crazy but I don’t think sustain cracks the starting lineup this year. I think we’re in better shape than Bama in the secondary for the foreseeable future.

Once we got Fulton back, he wouldn't have started this year, but I'm pretty confident he would have started next year.

surtain and Caden Sterns with stingley coming in next year?? Missed on possibly the best secondary ever on my opinion.

We have Delpit, Greedy and Fulton right now. That’s better than those clowns. And we had Tyrann Mathieu, Eric Reid, Brandon Taylor, and Morris Claiborne.

Mullen told the coaches the night before NSD that he was coming to BR. He literally changed his mind just a few hours before submitting his LOI to Clemson. He was absolutely not a kid on the “back burner”.

I would call losing out on Brad Stewart and Amik Robertson misses as well. Stewart would play for Battle and have Amik in the slot would be awesome.

You ain't lying podna, Ed Oliver was a real gem that I wish they had bagged. That kid will be a stud in the NFL for whatever team lands him, right now the Raiders are looking good with all the No 1's they are stockpiling. shite, I imagine if they had kept Khalil Mack and got Ed Oliver, what a combo that would have been.

shite, you must have been asleep or something, but there was a story on him not that long ago of him saying how badly he wanted to go to LSU, but that things just didn't work out, I'm trying to think of exactly what he said, but I can't remember exactly what he said. But he loves LSU man and definitely wanted to go there, shite, I think about the lack of a pass rush that LSU has right now, and with him and a healthy Chaisson this defense is really kicking arse. LOL

Add Buggs to that list.

This is the one I'm more down on. LSU has Stingley next year with Fulton, who looks damn good, along with an experienced Vincent and young bucks. Along with Delpit, Harris, and Monroe next year, safety will be more than fine.

DL this year would have been great with a force like Buggs on the line. In only 8 games (and you knowno he probably rarely played in the fourth), he has 9.5 TFL and 8.5 sacks. Also has 2 forced fumbles, 2 batted passes, and 6 more QB hurries.

Our best DL has 4 TFL, 1.5 sacks, and 2 QB hurries. It's not like we don't have talent, it's just that NONE of them are studs. None are playmakers or impact players. LSU's DL doesn't put the fear in a QB like it should.

ETA: I know people say Oliver and Tiller, but Tillery wanted to go to Notre Dame for a long time. I don't know if money would have helped that. Oliver ended up staying in Houston, not going to Texas, TCU, Baylor, TAMU. I know guy above said that he "wanted" to go to LSU, but I think that's a crock of shite when instead of going to another big program at the time, he went to Houston.

Sterns has 5 picks this year as a freshman. Credit the league his playing in. Big twelve is a pass first league.
