As a signatory country to the Convention, we would be required to process their request for asylum ... if they manage to enter the country. This why we do not let them enter.
Some argue that we do not have even that obligation because we were not the first foreign country they entered. These people are wrong, according to about 99% of iimmigration lawyers.
As an historical matter, something like 80-90% of asylum requests have been denied. In this group, I would not be surprised if the denial ratio were not higher. This is clearly more a matter of protest for some and seeking economic opportunity for others. I doubt that there are many valid asylum-seekers in the group.

I understand it’s a bogus claim, but they aren’t filing through refugee centers. They are storming the gates and then claiming as asylum seekers. How many of the earlier group were allowed to stay while their case was considered?

Whether they cross or not, we can do whatever we like with them and there isn't a damn thing anyone is going to do about it.

Thanks for your comments. I see you graduated from Texas Law school about 29 years ago. Really appreciate comments from an expert. Your comments seem to be a very good summary of the legal issues about the pending invasion.

Well at least you are not incorrectly claiming the Geneva Convention requires it again, care to back this claim up?
We have zero obligation to even consider any asylum request from anyone south of the Rio Grand other than Mexicans, end of story.
We may chose to do so but there is nothing requiring it.
