You really have to give it to them for trying to counter GS and not just counter them. Ever since the Boogie acquisition, the Pels have been trying to win with size + tempo. They are trying something different than GS model; whereas; all the other super teams were basically becoming GS light teams.

It appears that we are a solid wing away from creating their ideal team (and indications are we may be able to grab one mid season).

Will it work? Who knows? But IMO they are being creative in order to win.

42’s article did give me a different perspective on Demps, that’s for sure

this is why doitbig drives me nuts. it's false advertising

the Pels are an infinitely more conventional team w/o Cousins. their best lineups are Davis at the 5 surrounded by shooting.

this is smart, modern basketball. not some genius plan Demps or Ferry or Gentry came up with

quote:

the Pels have been trying to win with size + tempo

the Pels started a PF who hit 6 threes. their backup big hit 2 more. he also can take the ball and go coast to coast with his dribble (:cough:Draymond:cough:)

the Warriors have unmatched versatility because of their size, their skill, and their tempo. the Pels have a version of that now.

the biggest and best thing to happen to this franchise was Davis mentally and physically accepting that he will have to play the 5. once that domino fell, the team's ceiling was lifted and team building around him became incredibly easier

I debated this with a Spurs fan friend of mine. He said the Pels can't compete in today's NBA with a focus on the frontcourt because the guards aren't good enough.

My stance was that nobody can compete with GSW trying to focus on their backcourt because no one will be able to piece together a better team using the same strategy. You've got to zig while they zag to even have a chance.
