I can't think of a better horror movie sequel

Well...there's the Godfather II...but that Michael doesn't wear a Shatner mask...so I guess it's apples and oranges.
For the non-Oscar category: Aliens and Terminator 2 are probably the front-runners in the awesomeness out-performing the original in over-the-top greatness.

I personally prefer Halloween IV. As far as horror movie sequels go, I'll take Scream 2.

Army of Darkness
Have you been watching High Fidelity?
Rob: (VO) What did Laura mean last night when she said, "I haven't slept with him yet"? Yet! What does "yet" mean anyway? It means you're gonna do it, doesn't it? Or does it? (At the record store)
Rob: Just come on. What would it mean to you, that sentence: "I haven't seen Evil Dead II yet"?
Barry: Well, to me it would mean that you're a liar. You've seen it twice. Once with Laura -- oops -- and once with me and Dick 'member? We had that conversation about that guy making Beretta shotgun ammo off-screen in the 14th century.
Rob: Right. But let's just say that I hadn't seen it. And I said, "I haven't seen Evil Dead II yet." What would you think?
Barry: I'd think that you're a cinematic idiot and I'd feel sorry for you.
Rob: All right. But from that one sentence, would you think that I was going to see it?
Barry: I'm sorry, Rob. I'm struggling here. You're asking me what would I think if you told me you hadn't seen a film that you have already seen. What am I supposed to say?
Rob: Just listen to me. If I said to you --
Barry: "I haven't seen Evil Dead II yet", yes!
Rob: Would you get the impression that I really wanted to see it?
Barry: Oh, uh...well, you couldn't have been desperate to see it, otherwise you'd have already gone.
Rob: Right. I'm not going to see that movie.
(Discussion closed? But Barry looks up again in a moment; he's had a thought.)
Barry: But the word "yet."......Yeah, you know what? I get the impression that you wanted to see it...otherwise you'd have said you didn't want to go.
Rob: But in your opinion, would I definitely go?
Barry: How the frick am I supposed to know? Probably.
Rob: Why?
Barry: Because it's a brilliant film! It's so funny and violent and the soundtrack kicks fricking arse. I never thought I'd say this, but can I go to work now?
(they keep saying Evil Dead 2 but are clearly talking about Army of Darkness.)

Empire Strikes Back easily

Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness are both better than the original. The Evil Dead remake was also pretty solid.

I can’t remember but how did they introduce him as her brother in Halloween 2?
In the new one they are bypassing that

Halloween 4 was a better sequel, it captured the atmosphere of the original better than any of the other sequels

I agree. Halloween 4 is my second favorite

In a world without Godfather 2, The Empire Strikes Back, The Wrath of Khan, Aliens or Terminator 2?
Maybe.
(ETA: Full disclosure - horror isn't really my genre and I dug Halloween and Halloween 2.)

What do you mean?
Halloween 2 was a continuation of the same night. Laurie is brought to a hospital and Mike wants to keep partying all night long.

I know but pretty sure she didn’t know that until the second movie.

There's a reason that Michael was never associated with any of the characters in the first movie. Making him Lee's brother in the second undercuts the purpose of his character from the first. While it's an enjoyable movie, it got the entire idea of the first one wrong and ran with it nonetheless.
