Living out of state, I often wonder how good GITM actually is. Is it more a good craft beer in a mediocre beer state, or a great beer? How would it compare to beers elsewhere?

Ranked in the top 10-15 for DIPAs in the latest thrillist list or whatever that is called. (Was for the entire country)

Wouldn't call LA a mediocre beer state. Lots of solid beers from lots of solid breweries. And I'd put Ghost up against most anything nationally that I've had.

I've had several of the more popular hazy IPAs from the nothereast, and it stands up well to all of them. A lot of the good ones have started to taste about the same to me though, with just subtle differences depending on their hop bill. The bad ones are definitely bad, but there's not much difference in the good ones to me.

I'm back on the bitter and west coast style IPAs.

I live in MO and was down in MS/AL for the Mizzou-Alabama game, and really cared more about getting food and drink that we don't get up north than the game (pretty certain I knew how it would turn out).

Went to a bar/grill in Tupelo and they had GITM on tap and not being an IPA guy, I had my buddy get one ($8 for a 12 oz draft--yikes) as it's more his style. Tried a drink and was blown away. Just so much smoother than other IPAs I've had (really no bitterness), and man it smelled good. Was able to track down 3 bottles to take back to MO and am going to enjoy them.

Can't compare too much to other IPAs that are bitter as they're not my style, but compared to other beers that I enjoy, it's obviously a lot more complex, and it is worth the hype from my perspective.

Thanks to the F/D Board for talking it up on here, or I would have never tried it.
