Now that we are past the half-way point of the season I am 100% certain that LSU's biggest offensive problem is with our receivers. They fail to get open and have problems catching critical passes. Simply put, we lack elite receivers. I know many will blame the O-line (and there is good reason to do so). However, there were key moments in the game yesterday that I saw receiver giving up on trying to get open.

Its multiple factors

LSU does not block consistently, the WR's general don't get separation/catch consistently

I think the offensive play calling does this team no favors at times either. I don't understand it at times

You can scheme around a lot of deficiencies on offense but we don't do it

LSU has an OC that is not doing that or making proper adjustments which is the biggest problem

Our guys are very talented. They're also very inconsistent.

We have talent but they drop a bunch. Main issue is pass blocking. We've been exposed by Florida and dare I say it, Southeastern.

Not the receivers fault when Burrow has to get rid of the ball before you can even run a 10 yard route most the time. There were some bad drops yesterday, I'll give you that but that's not as much of a problem as the O-line whiffing constantly... and IMO our receivers are undeniably talented but year in and year out we struggle to get them the ball.

the biggest problem is OC as said. We don't have any play makers on offense, but a quality OC could scheme around what we have. We have enough talent to do better.

It all starts with coaching.

You can have all-world talent on the field, but if the coaching is crap, you will only go so far.

I firmly disagree. I believe we rotate to many in a game. I rather see the two freshmen along with Sullivan in the game every snap.
I believe yesterday loss was more on the team believing they hype. They lacked focus, effort, and poise. This game may be the wake up call for this team. Time to get it going

I'll support you with an example.

We attempted a screen, to RB (I think CEH, can't remember for sure). WRs went straight to blocking. I think they were in man coverage. RB got held up, very common in CFB tactic if screen recognized.

If they are in man coverage, don't go straight to blocking if a WR.... run deep. Their back will be to the ball. If you block, they'll recognize it.

And another thing, since they didn't even attempt routes, when RB got held up Burrow was fricked. No one else to throw too.

And another thing, by the time the RB got tackled, 2 linemen were 10 (or more) yds downfield, which is why RB got blowed up, the LBs and DL recognized it so quick, and even if Burrow had more than one reciever in routes and an option B, it would have been a penalty.

It was a lesson in how not to design a screen, much less execute it. ALWAYS send one deep, opposite sideline. That way you can at least throw towards him to get rid of it. And maybe the CB slips. Maybe... he sees screen too and comes a runnin', which he shouldn't do; he's not in the play. But you never know. And why should that WR block... he's not in the play either. Run your B route.

ETA:
And another thing (again), we ran that screen right, the opposite side from whence they had blitzed all game. Why? Because that's where we had been sending the RB, to help with the non-blitz side to lend Deculus a hand.

How about sending your RB against the blitzer AND run the screen to the blitzing side.

WTF. You TARDS can’t have it both ways. Y’all want E to shite playmakers out his arse. You can’t hide lack of playmakers and a suspect OL for an entire season. To this point I think he’s done a great job of identifying what we’re best at. Move the frick on and bring on the Dawgs

Our WRs are fine. Jefferson is a good WR. The rest are acceptable. The drops came very late, they didn't have anything to do with the outcome (unless you are thinking we go down and get a TD + 2 pt conversion to force OT).

Keeping the QB clean long enough to find a WR was the problem.

It all starts up front. LSU lacks an elite offensive line. The skill positions are not the problem.
