Is it safe to say he wasn't as good as advertised this early ? #1 recruit in the class and have moved him 3 times already and he hasn't seen the field last two games. Delpit was in his safety class and playing lights out

Dude, Delpit is incredible...he's a f***ing rare gem.

ETA: Phillips has really turned the corner and surprised me. He's a great linebacker.

Yeah, I’m interested in what’s going on. He clearly was good. Saban threw out all the stops to try and get him to bama. He’s damn good, but something is up.

He’s more of a box safety. Good in run fits. Ole Miss isn’t a running team.

I know we were trying to play him at outside linebacker with the loss of Chaisson but he's been MIA after that long fumble return against southeastern

Jacoby has made plays when he’s played. He’s kinda that tweener Olber/ S as he’s growing. Not safe to say he isn’t that good. Aranda will Utilize him

I agree. I hope my post didn't come across as me knocking the kid. I hate these threads because they're based solely on a recruiting ranking. Unfortunately, everyone develops at a different pace and some kids need more time than others.

I hate the expectation that because a kid's a 5*, he should come in and contribute immediately and if he doesn't we start to wonder if he's a bust.

I don't understand you star gazers. What you should be asking is where is Eric Monroe? He has played snaps and performed well. And it fits YOUR narrative that he was the #1 safety in his recruiting class.

Those rankings are based on potential. Sometimes players don’t meet that potential. Stevens still has time. He’s a great athlete, they just need to leave him at a position long enough for him to actually learn it.

Eric monroe was a 4 star and not the best safety in his class. Its also not "stargazing" but when you have 3* recruits in the same class playing every game and you are a 5* you def were not good as advertised...He may pan out but being the #1 recruit in our class they def expected him to be ready

Agreed. Moving from safety, to offense, to OLB cant be easy.
