Anyone remember when they stopped and wasn’t it because of the students?

IIRC didn’t we y’all a holes, a holes, a holes at one point in the song? I think it was banned in 2006.

Yes, it was between '04-'08 range.
Students would yell Assholes!

When Joe and company ruined the whole god damned experience for the fans!

The band has basically stopped playing. I was at the Tech game, and the band might as well have gone home after the (very nice) halftime show.

Somebody linked an article about some douchebag who is the Tiger Stadium "DJ" or some such BS. Apparently, he tells the band when they can play. I've noticed that there seems to be less and less band music every season, and more garbage music over the PA system. Sometimes it's so loud that it gives you a freaking migraine.

About 10 years ago I think. Then they played it a few times over the past several years. No one else in the student section knew the assholes cheer. I felt like a loser :(

We played it in 2006...but only when the band wasn't around the student section of any LSU sport.

We were doing that in the 80s; it took them 20 years to ban it?
(I guess we didnt score enough in the 90s for anyone to notice.)

That is the greatest fight song in college football! Known the world over. Here's a version from Tokyo. The trombone player picked it up playing gigs in New Orleans.

Either 2003 or 2004. Risa Palm who joined as Provost from UNC didn't like the chants....and asked the band to change it up.

that's horrible. No wonder fans leave. Half the atmosphere of a football game is created by the band.
They should do an audit. Sounds like somebody's nephew is making a bundle screwing up the scene with that piped-in crap.

No. It was banned and unbanned multiple times. When I started TB in the late 90’s, it had just returned from a ban.

One reason I hate watching Clemson play.

It was banned in the early/mid 1980’s because students would point and laugh at the visitors in the notes right before the “aholes” part. Mind you, no one was saying “aholes”, we just pointed and laughed. The administration thought that was bad sportsmanship and banned the song. Seems so innocent now.

Off and on over the years. I graduated in 89 and they stopped playing it when I was there because of the a-hole, a-hole chant

Ummm. It was definitely said assholes in the ‘80’s. My son asked me why they said that. I just remember looking at my wife and laughing.
