Best old school Italian

Which is better , Gino’s or diguilio bros ? Any others better worth trying for traditional old school Italian ? Coming in Friday for the game and in the mood for something different. My wife and I always find ourselves going to Ruth’s for steak or superior for Mexican food . Thanks

Diguilio brothers was always my favorite when in Baton Rouge. I love the atmosphere and in addition to absolutely incredible Italian food they have the best red velvet cake I have ever had too.

Yeahhhh, I wouldn’t go quite that far. Sal & Judy’s blows Gino’s away, and there are multiple other superior options in NOLA.

For "old school Italian"? Nah, New Orleans sadly really has nothing that comes close. One day, perhaps, I'll try Sal and Judy's, but his brother's place in Fat City does nothing for me.

S&J in fat city must have closed close to 10 years ago.
Not sure what old school Italian is but I would recomend in the New Orleans area:

I haven't been to Marcello's since they were supposed to re-open at Southdowns.. Have they re-opened? How is it? The Lafayette location is outstanding.
In New Orleans, I would add Italian Barrel and Red Gravy to the list.
