Brett Kavanaugh on Monday said he will "not be intimidated into withdrawing" his Supreme Court nomination after a second woman came forward with a sexual misconduct allegation against him.

Kavanaugh sent a letter on Monday to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, saying the accusations against him are "smears, pure and simple."

"They debase our public discourse. But they are also a threat to any man or woman who wishes to serve our country. Such grotesque and obvious character assassination—if allowed to succeed—will dissuade competent and good people of all political persuasions from service," Kavanaugh said in the letter to Grassley.

"I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process. The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out. The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out. The last- minute character assassination will not succeed," Kavanaugh continued.

Hopefully, Grassley and some other R senators can muster up a shred of his fortitude.

Republicans and the White House are lining up behind Kavanaugh, signaling that they are publicly preparing for a fight over his nomination.

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said the New Yorker piece was a "smear campaign." Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) meanwhile said Democrats are engaged in "wholesale character assassination."

If the GOP abandons him out on the field alone, I will never again vote for a single Republican other than TRUMP's reelection in 2020.

If he is not confirmed before Oct 1, he will need something to do during the session they blocked him from. I suggest special investigation task force leader to root out any allegations of assault in any congressmans past no matter how small or unprovable

He said the accusation was a “smear,” but did he say it was “false?”

It sounds corny, but times like these were made for heroes.

If the GOP lets this brave patriots's nomination fail, they deserve to lose the senate and they likely will.

Every Republican senator considering voting against BK should see he is fighting to protect his name which is more credible than an any unsubstantiated allegations.

There are a bunch of little bitches on this forum that have been intimidated into giving up, so I'm glad to see Kav and teh Republicans putting up a fight.

I thought he was too establishment a pick at first and didn't like him, but all this inane spaghetti flinging from the leftists is going to harden him bigly. He may be more conservative than Thomas and Alito once confirmed.
