re: Burrow's Stats Should Improve a Lot

If Burrow can get in the 60% completion rate, there isn’t a team out there that can even remotely come close to stopping this one except for possibly Bama and that game should be a very bloody battle.

I like the GIF but a jet sweep flipped forward is technically a pass and will be scored as such in the stats.

quote:Agreed. The Jeffferson TD worked out and Joe had nowhere else to go with the ball on the 2pt conversion. Only guy that could have been open was Giles but his route was sloppy and indecisive.
He has only squeezed a few. The Dillon TD and the Jefferson missed 2pt come to mind. I may be wrong on those due to drinks.

Keep on keeping on. Protect Joe and secure the ball.
As for our defense....go deaux what you deaux so well.

Flipped forward, yes. I guess I was thinking of the Matt Canada jet sweeps.

Any list of top 10 pass plays in LSU history that doesn't include the Bert Jones to Brad Davis pass on the last play of the game vs Ole Miss in 1972 is bogus list. Just saying...

When Burrow's grasp of the offense increases and when he has more experience with the receivers, his true accuracy should become apparent. Also, of course, the offensive line has to give him time. (which it did during the Auburn game)
I do not agree with this. Sure adjusting to offense could cause some sort of misread, etc.
But once he decides to throw, his throws haven't been on target. Maybe it's late reads. I don't know.
I do know OSU realized some issues existed and that kept him off the field.
I hope they are corrected. His average cannot stay below. 500. At some point the defense will need him to give them rest.

See reference to Bert Jones not being mentioned.

I'm thinking this is what the guy was talking about.
I think it's one of those plays OSU runs a lot, not sure though. It is sometimes labeled a Jet Sweep Pass.

I referenced Jamarcus, and remembered Doucet vs Arizona St and Tennessee, but didn’t think those games were big enough for Top 10 consideration. Forgot about the Bama game (first time vs. Saban). Yes, that one should def be on the list.

If anyone really wants to give me a solid LSU Boner, start posting the video links or gifs to these passes & more...

This is a good observation. I'd much much rather a miss with him trying to put it in a spot where only his guy can get it than trying to thread the needle and it costing us a turnover.
The stats aren't necessarily sexy, but 3-0 sure is!

When you couple that with an elevating offense, we could be very dangerous team by seasons end
The team needs to be very dangerous by game 7.

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. His throws are pretty much always "on target."
Yeah, his completion rate on his deeper passes against Auburn wasn't great, but most of those balls were decent throws. Auburn's DBs had solid coverage (when they weren't committing PI) all game long. Burrow put those throws where only LSU was catching them, or nobody was catching them. They just didn't manage to come down with many.
But go back and watch his play in any of LSU's games thus far. When he throws, he typically puts the ball where it needs to go. He had maybe 4 or 5 passes against Auburn that could be classified as poor throws.

He is 3 games in with a cupcake included. He hasnt hit .500 yet. This is not some 1 off wierd performance. It's a trend that he has to overcome or eventually we will suffer because of it. Simply put a higher % will sustain drives and keep our D rested.
I'm not saying it will translate to more points..I'm saying it helps with ht rebalance of the entire team.
Numbers dont lie....he is a sub .500 qb at this point. But we have won so, tight now, it doesnt seem like a big issue. But it is
