Project Taysom Hill

So he's a fairly talented quarterback. He's flashed some decent passing skills on tape. He started out learning the playbook and payton was looking at Hill as a year out project.
Come late season, payton wants to toy with his athletic ability on special teams. Was a cute story originally.
Hill's abilities were not a cute story, its a real skillset and his athletic ability is matched by few on this team.
Now we've possibly worked in some short yardage packaged plays for him that we've flashed once during the season.
We've put the ball in his hands on kickoffs and it was instant electric.
We have a deficiency in this offense in the tight end position mostly in the receiving game. We lack athleticism and playmaking ability from this spot. I see no reason why Hill can not be used in an H Back type tight end position.
My best NFL example could be Trey Burton'ish. There's a number of type of odd offensive alignments and packages that Hill would be outstanding either used as a runner from the backfield or reverses or simple route concepts.
Burton might have an inch on Hill and maybe 13lbs. Hill's strength is incredible and I think can handle the task an add an incredible threat along with MT, AK, and when MI comes back.

You can't have two Hills as TE's.

I’m very curious to see how Hill’s career shakes out.
Is he willing to do whatever it takes to stay in the NFL? QB is a tough gig to get. Can he learn another position?
He clearly has talent. I’m happy he is with the Saints I’ll say that.

I love the package where he is brought in around the goal line as a run/pass threat.

It's not the worst idea anyone's ever had. I'll give you that.

The only offense we have is MT, Alvin and Ginn.
Sean has got to get this dude on offense in a legit scheme. Not some crap around the goaline either. Get him the ball out of the backfield in space. Let him line up down low as a TE and run a drag across the middle. I just know whenever he touches the ball something happens.

Wouldn’t it be badass to see Taysom become the new Slash Stewart

It's becoming increasingly apparent that he's too talented to keep off the field. We should definitely give me more opportunities at KR and see how that goes.
I like the idea of using him in the offense as a utility player though. Could play some TE, maybe some slot, possibly even HB. Just get him the ball and see what he can do. It seems like we probably have some redzone options with him at QB too which could be nice to set up RPOs.

I'm not sure he can catch or even block worth a lick, but you don't need him at TE or even H Back to take advantage of what he has to offer.
Line him up at QB in Wildcat on short yardage plays, or run RPO's with him. Put him in at tailback or slot and run dive plays or sweeps to him. There are a number of ways we can use this weapon that adds to the offensive war chest and doesn't require him to block or catch passes.

Only thing differentiating him from Tebow is Hill's lack of Phillipino circumcision trips.

I actually completely agree with you chad

Wouldn’t mind it at all.

I love Taysum wish he could start in this league somewhere he’s a hell of a player...

Depends on if they have been putting him at TE in practice and if he's coming along there.
It's one thing to catch a kickoff or punt as those have a higher trajectory. If you aren't used to catching passes on a regular basis you can get a lot of tipped balls that could turn into picks.
Then he also needs to learn at least a few routes and how to run then to perfection (Brees wants to know EXACTLY where the receiver will be at any point).
And as to not tip run/pass he'll have to learn how to block well enough to block DEs and LBs.
So no it's not as easy as just running him out at TE to just go run a drag.
That said you can see Sean likes the options he gives around the goalline, and I think the next step is to have Brees take the snap and run an "rpo" where he either hands it off to Hill or passes himself.
That'll also let you split Kamara out wide, and then you can even start running jet sweeps (or jet sweep fakes) with Kamara or Ginn.
Or knowing Payton they'll run a wild cat triple jet sweep fake with Brees taking the snap, faking to Taysom on a run, fake handoff to Josh on a TE reverse followed by another fake on a jet sweep to Ginn followed by another fake on a jet sweep to Kamara followed by a pass to Thomas on a slant.

I like it but do we really know that he can block, run routes, and catch?
