Yes. Even though the Mexican player clearly had no intent to hurt Trapp, that’s a red card 100%. He lunged over the ball with his studs up with a good amount of momentum behind him. Those kind of tackles can end careers. Referee has to send him off for all the players’ safety.
Luckily Trapp is OK. I was very worried when I first saw it. He could have easily broken his leg or torn up his knee.

Please explain. I thought he slipped, his feet went over the ball, and into Tripp’s leg from behind. Was it a red card because he came in too hard, regardless of slipping, and slide into Trapp from behind?

Even if you slip, you're putting the ref in a hard position when your foot goes over the ball and your studs go up around a player's shin. Trapp was incredibly lucky he didn't caught cleanly or he'd probably be out for 18 months.

Yea I don’t know how he didn’t break his leg.

Mexicans are apparently very sensitive about their height. They're crying all over Twitter about Miazga being mean.

What the frick ever. The dude was trying to bow-up. Miazga trolled him instead of allowing it to get more physical. What was the little dude gonna do at that point? Jump up and slap his chest?

Sebastian Salazar had one of the worst takes in the history of the world on it. The replies are great

Not surprised it was a #USMNT player who made a short joke on a soccer field. Obsession with height & size in ‘coaching’ circles in this country is absurd. Some kids in U.S. actually grow up thinking they have an advantage in soccer because they’re tall. Imagine that. ???????

yeah not sure Miazga was making a meta soccer sociological statement there, lol

Mexicans are the biggest fricking trolls in all of sport but have thin skin when the shoe is on the other foot.

The dude punked Neymar and the entire Mexican team in less than a week.

Messaged my Mexican players this morning. They're pissed off about Miazga and about the loss but keep saying "whatever it was a friendly" "you didn't make the world cup"
I never expected the Miazga troll to make people as mad as it has.

George Weah came out of retirement to play for Liberia last night. So both George and Tim Weah played international matches on the same day.

No one's mentioned it yet, but traitor Jonathan Gonzalez didn't even get in the game last night, which is probably for the best because Miazga would have trolled him into tears.

People really made too big of a deal about him choosing Mexico.

Matt Miazga became my favorite player last night.
Him stooping down to Lainez was amazing.

Last night was the first time I've watched a US game live since T&T. It was just really nice rooting for the boys again. I know it was just a friendly, but beating Mexico reminded me that these games are supposed to be enjoyable. The next cycle may be another disaster, but I am finally at a point where I'm looking forward to it again.

did you know that Uruguay beat Mexico 4 to 1 last week?
Without Cavani.
You are hereby invited to share what makes a game vs rival Mexico enjoyable.
