did you know that Uruguay beat Mexico 4 to 1 last week?
Without Cavani.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?

I was delighted at the Uruguay win.

The reason I mentioned Mex v Uruguay is wonderment about his state of mind re "enjoyable" games. I must admit that a close game vs a competent adversary is tense for me.

I'll take tense over the apathy I've felt towards the USMNT that I've felt for almost a year now. Sure, it's fun to enjoy kicking a team's arse, but the tense games are the ones you remember and enjoy more when your team wins.

Having said all that, I wasn't tense at all in this game. There is just a lot more rooting interest against Mexico than anyone else.

its been helpful for me to think that maybe a new generation.of Americans will shine.
It got my goat when I found out that the Uruguay u-20 reached world semis. They have fewer people than sf bay area. Their youth soccer must be head and shoulders over us.
They will have half new guys starting in the next world cup.
Of course they stink at baseball and hoops and never saw an american football game.

I wonder if Usa will be a factor in my lifetime.

At this point, I don't care if other continents are getting better and showing more promise than our behemoth of a nation. I just want to get back to being in the clear top 2 of our own federation.

It would also be nice to be able to pass half as well as Mexico. Maybe they have always been clearly better and I don't remember it, but the difference in skill seemed to be night and day in this game. But this request is secondary to the first.

Uruguay lost to the same team that beat us in the quarterfinals. The only difference is that we had to play them first.

We were one of only 2 teams to make the quarterfinals of both the U17 and U20 WCs.
