Core-Mark, a Fortune 500 company based in San Francisco, plans to relocate its corporate headquarters to Westlake in 2019. Scott McPherson, president and CEO of CoreMark Holding Co. Inc. (Nasdaq: CORE), announced the move in an Aug. 7 earnings call, according to a transcript from Seeking Alpha. "Recently, we have finalized plans to relocate Core-Mark’s corporate headquarters to the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” McPherson said. “The move will take place during the first half of 2019. The cost of operating out of the San Francisco Bay Area (is) high, and while San Francisco is our longtime home, the business has expanded dramatically over the years.” Dallas offers more favorable operating costs, lower taxes and a central location for Core-Mark’s nationwide business, McPherson said. “Being closer to our customers and more central to our divisions will create cost and logistical efficiency for us,” he said.

Core-Mark will be the 23rd Fortune 500 company based in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. DFW is third in the country for the number of Fortune 500 headquarters, behind New York City and Chicago. One of Core-Mark's biggest clients is Irving-based 7-Eleven Inc. The company distributes tobacco products and other items nationwide to convenience stores and other retailers.

But, why didn't they choose Baton Rouge?

This is the kind of CA>TX migration I can get behind.

Because the Business environment is so peachy in San Fran
Liberal economic policies see corporations flee to better pastures.

Great - more Californians to drive up taxes

Houston <== Dallas
I'm not shocked a distribution company would leave San Fran under the current climate. They are banning all flavored tobaccos including menthol cigarettes which is a first for any city I believe. Either way, something good for Dallas is good for Texas.

That's part of it but it's tough to stay competitive when COL is so high.

Random but the 2 most shocked facts I have ever heard is that Oxford university is older than the Aztec empire and that Monroe has a fortune 500 company headquartered there

If it’s flavored tobacco, than st George isn’t their target audience. Norf Baton roooooooge however....

Then those greener pastures flourish and that brings the liberals with their shite economic policies.
