That's my biggest complaint with this game. Spidey takes too much damage from a single punch in this game and you have to keep moving him around at all times. I never feel like I'm in control of the fight.
I've only play one of the Batman games a few years back (maybe Arkham City) but I remember quiting not long in because of the shitty combat controls and tedious fighting with swarms of basic enemies. I recall having to retreat often because I'd get worn down before I can finish them all off. When it comes to combat I hate button-mashers but when they make combat overly-technical and tedious too then it's just as bad. I'm waiting to buy Spider-Man on eBay when the price drops more because I'd rather not spend money on a game that I end up quitting because it's more tedious/aggravating than fun.

I would. It would just take forever to go through hoards of enemies and I'd just get impatient with it. I especially hated that it's one of those games that you can come back a few minutes to the same spot and the same group would respawn. When you're doing missions and keep getting sidetracked doing shite you've already done it kinda sucks the fun out of the game.

You would really not like assassin's creed...

Spider-Man's whole thing is his reflexes and agility. The combat movement is very important to "feeling" like Spider-man IMO. Hitting that perfect dodge and webbing a guy in the face feels great. I mean he was just about to hit you with a stun baton but now hes got webby shite all over his face. Awesome.
Then you have all the combos and different ways to dispatch enemies. Web bombs, electric webs, gravity bombs, air combat, throwing them around, etc. The list goes on and on.
The fighting is super fun for me.
I am almost done with my second 100% playthrough and I'm still not tired of the game or the combat.

I played Assassin's Creed 2, 3, Brotherhood, Revelations, Black Flag, and Origins and didn't have any problems. Enjoyed them all though they can get kind of repetitive. The only one I didn't like was Revelations because I hated tower defense.

I guess I find the combat similar (kinda?). Same with the last two Mordor games which I enjoyed.

Just finished the game.
Cried as I should.
The “weird things” at the end was awesome.

I'm on Act 2 of the NG+ trying to get everything done for the DLC coming tomorrow.

Necro'ing the shite out of this thread to say I just finished the main story and 100% platinumed the game. This game is beyond amazing. Main story was fantastic. Gameplay really made me feel like I was Spider-Man. Just flat awesome.
I also didn't hate most of the side missions. The Tombstone one, at least, was a lot of fun. I also loved how they worked in fights with Taskmaster to the challenges. Gave those a little more depth.
Overall a great game. I haven't had so much fun just moving from point A to point B in a game since Saints Row 4. Combat felt very fluid and true to the hectic nature of Spider fighting. Can't wait to start the DLC!

I'm about 95% done with the main Campaign and side missions. I'm done with DLC 1 and working through DLC 2. I can't remember the last time I completed a game 100% but this one I will. It's so much fun swinging through NYC and the kids love watching me play. I will definitely be replaying it.
My only criticism and it's nitpicking, but I thought the main story spent way too much time on Martin Li and then sped through the last piece. I wanted more of that.

I still haven't played the 3rd DLC yet. Great game, but I should have done more of the crime stuff as I went through the story, because it got a little repetitive swinging around trying to get a crime to pop up over and over and over again.
Also, I ended up playing almost the entire game with the same suit power...the one where he spins and webs a shite ton of guys at once. I tried most of the powers but kept going back to it because of how powerful it was.

I did the same but it was the Spider Bot.
