Ahh yes, the game that let everyone know Curt Shilling has no fricking clue when it comes to economics in the video game business.

It was a pretty good game though. A little bit offline MMO mixed with Fable mixed with God of War.

I fricking loved that game. It was like a different flavor of Fable.

Who is dumber, the game fan who tries to make a game or the state so desperate for new jobs that they bankroll this pipe dream?

What put him under? I've only ever heard people that played this game say good things about it and I personally enjoyed the hell out of it.

There was nothing wrong with the game itself. The issue was how costly it is to make an MMORPG and how difficult it is to sell the numbers needed to offset the costs. The game would have needed to be one of the top sellers of all time to have turned a profit.

Had he started off with some smaller less expensive types games to build up some revenue streams and relationships with other companies it may have been possible to eventually try an MMORPG but he blew his wad on one of the most expensive and difficult types of games to make and market.

Think of it this way, if you start a car company your first vehicle should never be a $100k sedan that needs to sell Honda Accord numbers to be profitable. The odds are so against you that you may as well set your money on fire.

I thoroughly enjoyed KoA, was fun from start to finish. I also thoroughly enjoyed the entire saga as 38 studios imploded.

What MMO did he try to make? Or are you referring to KoA?
