Nothing substantial regarding COD as his passing occurred on a sheep hunt. Really sad to hear. Pro football player business man and hunter. RIP brother

Damn that sucks.

Just read on Texas Ags where someone said suicide but I’m not sure that’s true.

It was suicide. Crazy to think someone just living a life many would envy.

Same can be said about Anthony Bourdain, Chris Cornell, Robin Williams, Ernest Hemingway and anyone else who takes their life. Mental illness is real

That is crazy! He has a little boy named Cash that he hunts with all the time. My prayers for his son and family. Wow

Could it have been an accidental discharge?

Sounds like, from reading between the lines they know it was suicide.

He was one of the original founders of Sitka as well. He was eventually forced out by his board.

I gather he was a pretty alpha personality that was polarizing.

This is tough. He hunts/fishes with trump jr all the time. He also has some really cool videos with his dad, terrible to hear. Prayers for his family.

Played pro football. Maybe CTE? Women of money troubles are always at the top of the list. So sad.
Just goes to show that one who appears to have everything can also have major struggles. Just wake up each day and live life to the fullest. That may be a day at work, on the pond break fishing, or hanging around the house. Each day is a gift.

Yup. It isn't that simple though. Did he want to die or did he just want to stop feeling some kind of mental anguish? I hope he is at peace.

Real sad news. I love Kuiu and all that Jason built after leaving Sitka. I was just thinking last night about sheep hunting and thought “man, Jason has quite the life”. RIP

Damn, sad to hear. Can’t imagine what his hunting partners are going through right now. I wonder if they had to carry him down from sheep camp, or if a helo could get to them. Pretty sure DTJr hunted Dall with him less than a month ago.

His last IG post said he was going to the Brooks Range with his dad and son to hunt. I surely hope he didn’t do this with them on that trip.

DeltaDoc, I’m afraid they were on the trip with him. So sad.

My goodness. I can’t imagine. Those two, barring God’s intervention, will be forever mentally and emotionally altered.

He was open about the effects of that career as well, saying in a 2016 interview: 'I played linebacker, and the way I played the game, I led with my head. I played the way they tell us not to play now. I have all the symptoms of CTE.'

The affects of CTE are greatly over exaggerated relative to suicide as a direct cause IMO. There are literally 10s of thousands of men walking this country that played college football and likely have some form of CTE...including severe cases that lead normal lives and that don’t commit this act. I think a lot more research needs to be done before we automatically assume a direct causal link between the two.

You commit suicide with your son on the trip and there is no doubt that you are a coward, piece of shite.
