I think history will be much more kind to Bush than we are right now.

He will forever be remembered as the President who did the dumbest shite ever which was to invade Iraq. The biggest foreign policy disaster ever.....bigger than Vietnam I/m/o.

Oh and the biggest financial collapse since the Depression which happened on his watch as well.

We have to get to a lot of bad stuff before Trump falls below Bush. I’m talking millions of lost jobs, all top companies and banks collapsing, housing market collapse, a shite ton of war and dead soldiers for dumb or no reasons, dead bodies laying in streets of a major American city for weeks after a flood, etc etc

Need real tangible bad stuff to happen before Trump falls below Bush level. Just your not liking him isn’t enough.

He’s talking about rampant expanded warrantless wiretapping developed primarily by Bush’s deep state spook Michael Hayden.

Massive spending

Erosion of civil liberties

Multiple endless foreign expeditionary wars

Most of those things can be tied back to 9/11 and our decisions on how to handle that.

We cut taxes in 2003 to try to juice the economy, but we decided to go after all those responsible for 9/11. So we had higher spending and lower revenue.

Weaker constitution and erosion of civil liberties both were responses to terror. As was all our multiple wars.

Katrina response, I believe, would have been better if 1) our LA National Guard wasn't dicking around in Iraq and 2) FEMA would have still been a cabinet level organization, instead of being buried inside Homeland Security (again, a 9/11 response).

About the only thing not tied to 9/11 was the "worst financial era since the great depression". And you could argue that liberal policies to extend credit to err'one was a big driver in that.

The only big financial mistake I really hold him responsible for was Medicare Part D, but that was something supported by a lot of older Republicans as well.

I've always wondered how W would have done, if 9/11 never happened, or happened much later in his presidency.

First you talk about this:
quote:

I still think Iraq and the financial crisis were such massive frick ups,

Then you say this:
quote:

the dumpster fire that is trump

like economic prosperity and relative peace suck or something.

Which just confirms what I think we all already knew: you don’t know what the frick you’re talking about.

Not saying I agree with it... just saying that it can be tied back to 9/11.

I don’t excuse the republicans or Bush one bit.

The republicans had the presidency and some or all control of Congress in those years leading to the Great Recession. And they all did nothing. They failed, either out of incompetence or fear to stand up and say what needed to be said, or both.

Bush and the republicans in Congress don’t get a pass from me.

I agree. He certainly faced a lot of problems.
He also created/contributed to a few problems of his own.
I certainly think he was head and shoulders above the current lunatic, but that’s not much praise.

yeah a world war is not some trivial thing, and it was right as the end, but as i understand it, FDR had him totally out of the loop.

I’m not saying it was trivial, just that it wasn’t out of left field like 9/11 was (the war as a whole I mean)

Plus it was an attack on the biggest (nyc) and most powerful (DC) cities on the mainland

In 2005, GWB DID stand up to Congress and warn them about what was coming down the pike re: Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Congress opted not to listen.

I think that African tribal dance he did at the White House was the high point of his "Presidency".

Bush will always be known as the 2nd worse president behind trump in US history

Don’t know much about American History, do you?

Google James Buchanan (or Franklin Pierce or pretty much any of the 3-4 Presidents leading up to Lincoln who let it all fall apart right in front of their eyes...and did little to nothing).

Google Ulysses Grant. Or Warren G. Harding. Both of whom had administrations rocked with huge scandals.

Google Woodrow Wilson, who aside from being a virulent racist, was responsible for a lot of the messes we find ourselves in 100 years later.

Bush? Trump?

You have no clue, hack.
