Dear Marcus:

We get it. You won a natty with Jimbo, Nick, Kirby and Will.

That will never leave you, nor should your admiration for these guys.

We also get it that media folks have to be objective about their rooting interests.

We also know the prevailing narrative on LSU football. Questionable Head Coaching and QB play/selection/development

Yet, there is a limit to how much one should practice anti-homerism.

There is also many reasons to distinguish the upcoming 2018 season from last year's hobbled, not-talented-enough DLine, and numerous other conditions/factors which we all recognize contributed to the embarrassing Miss St and Troy defeats.

Simply put, Marcus, you are invited...to look harder for the positives than the negatives now, cause this D may rival the 2003/2007/2011 level Defenses, and Burrow may prove Matt Flynn caliber, and Edwards-Hellaire and Chris Curry are serious talents, and we probably have at least 5 future NFL roster receivers.

Yes, we know the OLine shuffle is a question. Yes, we know Coach E needs to produce the goods. Yep, Burrow has limited experience.

But bruh... You're a Tiger.

You've earned a decade worth of objectivity and anti-homerism points, so feel free to join the positivity for a while.

If things go sour, that'll be another matter.

But there are lots of reasons that this team may embarrass those predicting 5-7 wins.

So... Be advised/reminded:

We Comin'

Sincerely,
TigerBert

Maybe he doesn't see very many positives...?

It's not crazy for people to believe this team will be bad. I think the talent prevails for a good season, but that's based on nothing except pure hope and prayer

It's pure insanity to think that.

He is correct...very tough schedule and Orgeron equals 6-6.

I was with you until:

“Edwards Hellaire and Chris Curry are serious talents.”

We really know nothing about them at this point.

I think 6-6 is the absolute worst case scenario for this team. With Aranda and this defense we will be good enough to beat a lot of good teams even if the offense is a disaster. A very average or inconsistant offense gets us 8 wins. If the offense really clicks, I think 9 or 10 wins could be a reality.

I would say 8 wins is a reasonable expectation.

8 wins= the realistic ceiling
7 wins= in all likelihood what happens
6 wins= lose 2 of the first 3 and that’s probably what they are looking at.

I’m with you, a lot is going to be the Tigers not turning the ball over. With this great defense 20 points a game should get us 9 or even 10 wins. A big part will be great Special Team play, great field position is key

Marcus Spears is a Saban first guy. He feels he owes his success to Saban and his negative comments towards LSU are his way to pay hommage to Saban.
