Can anyone recommend me a good Travel Agent? I need some help planning a honeymoon. I am in the Baton Rouge area. TIA

The internet is making travel agents obsolete.

I have just heard its easier for them to do it for you. Booking travel and the rooms. I have minimal travel experience.

Do you know where you want to go, how many days and a budget? What time of the year is the honeymoon?

There are very few travel agencies left in business. Most travelers book directly with airlines, hotels, and resorts. If you're a complete travel novice, you can start doing research at TripAdvisor....
But if you don't know where you want to go, or when, no travel agency can help you (yet).

Time for a name change!
But the serious answer - if you successfully turned on your computer, made it here to the TD Travel Board, you have the ability to plan your honeymoon yourself. Unless you're looking for some high-end, multi-location trip...
But if you're heading to the Caribbean, Europe, or any other "typical" single-destination. Just DIY it and we can help along the way.

It's easy to book your own honeymoon. I've planned many trips and just recently planned my 2 country/4 city/over 17 days honeymoon. Follow the outline below and everything should work out fine for you.
1.decide budget and length of trip
2. Decide on destination/destinations based on budget and length of trip.
3. Book flights and other critical transportation
4. Book hotels/Airbnb's (do some research on accommodation before actually booking flights)
5. Enjoy the trip.

where the travel agent can really help is when they know the place where you are going...
I book trips to Cuba and in such, I am a travel agent,
I have saved a lot of headaches/expenses to friends.
TAs will sometime know what you do not even know to ask.
and the TAs are paid by the airline, not you.

Lol. I own a travel agency and airlines haven't given commission since the early 90s. Hotels are a different story

Most credit cards offer vacation packages that include airline tickets and hotels/resorts for one price. If you really don't have any travel experience you could look into that.

Goodness people, how many people had to berate the guy with "he doesn't need one". I've never used one either.
But, my MIL uses a TA and they can be extremely beneficial. They do get good deals themselves, many travel a lot, and as said many have answers to questions that you'd never think to ask.
For example, cruises and Disney both can be beneficial to use a TA. Tons of people us a TA to plan their Disney trip and they do all the reservations for no cost.

If a travel agent charges you for a reservation...they're scamming you.

As I said I've never used one. So then why don't you help the rest of us in the thread out on what a TA can help with and how they make their money? If not on reservations, then what?

travel agents make their money from commission. Some are greedy and charge you "fees"...good ones do not.
TA's can help you with lots of things:
1. pay over time without interest
2. groups and multiple payment methods
3. support before, during and after your vacation
4. extra perks you dont have access to
5. discounts you dont have access to
6. secondary markets and charter groups you dont have access to
7. holds on travel - you can actually hold reservations and then decide if you want them or not or if a better rpice comes along
8. price matching and lowering prices if price drops
etc.
etc.

not necessarily, depends on the service / reservation.
Most people can use a lawn mower, but some pay a service to do it. Starting to think there is lot of "ego" in here ... from the I DID IT MYSELF group.
The problem is that while you may have done it yourself and very well, you could have missed a lot that, even upon your return, you do not know you missed.
Besides, support a local business, no cost to you.

It’s not ego, but fact to know you have more travel experience than an agent who generally only travels domestically and speaks only English.
