How can I cool a bonus room above the garage without using a window unit a/c?

The bonus room above the garage is 10 degrees hotter than the other bedrooms upstairs. If I wanted to cool this room down to 72 degrees without using a window unit, is there any way?

I don't want to do any insulating or any major or minor projects. Just want to find a freestanding unit to lower temp 10 degrees without any exhaust/return air/or water soaking the floor...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you mostly use it from November to Marsh, you should be fine. Most days.

I'd add a window unit and if no with no window then a wall unit. Check out them Chinese hotel looking units.

Sounds like a window unit is the perfect solution.

You have limited the options down pretty good there...

If you are asking whether one of those portable units that you put on the floor and run an exhaust hose to the window will work, the answer is no.

Bonus rooms are notoriously hard to heat...I can't even keep mine cool with the central ac plus a window unit running in it.

Your only option for that many BTUs may be a split unit or something like that.

You can buy a window unit that will cool that room for under $200 dollars.

Stick an ice cube up your arse. It worked for Gram Parsons, once.

Put a refrigerator in there and leave the door open.

When I lived in Seattle before we put in central air we used a portable one but you had to bentbit through the window.

If you want to do it right get a mini split.

It is really not that hard to add insulation. Or just hire a handyman to do it, you would still save a lot of money in the long run. Then a portable a/c might work.
