“We’re the third largest university in the state, only 500 (students) behind UL. We’re going to try to catch ’em,” he stated with a chuckle. “There’s loyalty here. There is passion in the town for (SLU). That is truly a university town. When you drive through town, you see SLU flags, stickers, posters all over the place. You don’t see that in a lot of big town teams. You see that in Hammond, America, which is pretty special.”

I want to make fun of them, but Hammond is a really nice little college town.

I mean, it's still in Louisiana, after all.

They will make ULM and ULL look like powerhouses at the FBS level.

I hope SLU continues to put out good football teams but they lost bigtime when Roberts decided to move on because SLU refused to pay his asst coaches like other Southland schools. 2 of his main coaches from those really good teams are now at Alabama. It was a revolving door and it cost SLU a really good coach.

I call bullshite. Go to a men's basketball game and see how "loyal" the community is to the school and the team. Or go to a baseball game when they aren't playing LSU and see how many dozen people are there.

come on, man. Tulane envy is not required here. Y'all are supposed to have a great season. After all, LSU even threw you a bone today.

I call bullshite on you about baseball. They have a decent fan support there.

Um, they are like 3000 students behind ULL

undergrad or in total? yeah, probably either way. He's throwing a number out there.

Yeah, they averaged about 1300 a game last year, paid. That isn't bad.
That is actually more than they averaged for men's basketball. That average was a meager 837 per game. And the only averaged about 5,000 for football. That just doesn't seem too "loyal" to me.

Well, aren’t they half way there anyway? I mean, half their teams are always transfers anyway. Can’t home grow their own players

If this were true, why do I NEVER see SLU shirts, hats, decals on vehicles, license plates or anything SLU around BR and the I-12 area?
I see LA Tech, ULL and even NSU stuff around the state. Why is this not the case with slu?

Total enrollment. But either way, his numbers are off.

Dude, we've had the current football team for about 15 years.
Football creates fandom.
LA Tech stickers are a bunch of engineers showing off where they went, UL stickers mean penis envy, & you're lying about the NSU stuff.

in a stadium that seats 7,408. Not bad.
Go to a game. It's actually a good bit of fun. It's like a high school game, but it can get rowdy in there v/s teams line Nicholls or even McNeese.

If I was smart enough to get an engineering degree at LaTech, I would put the sticker on my car as well.
Stupid what they put their students through....but they are real world ready so I guess it is worth it.
