Heims in Ft Worth

Yes I know it’s not on the way but it’s worth going off the beaten path when you get to the Metroplex

Off the beaten path but well worth it.

Stanley’s Pit BBQ. Tyler, TX. Probably the best around by a wide margin.

Jim's Barbecue in Waskom, TX is good--right across the state line from Shreveport. Owned by my great uncle, so I'm partial, but it's still pretty good.

Badacious BBQ of I-20 around Longview, TX. There's one around Marshall, TX as well.

Bodacious BBQ (different ownership than the others) in Longview was #4 on Texas Monthly's latest BBQ list.

Just off the I-20, in Tyler ... Stanley's. Quite possibly the best BBQ in the entire state of Texas and that includes Lockhart, TX.
