Damn good in 2011. Since then... not so much. CLM, CEO and Alleva drove a stake through LSU’s heart.

So Les outcoached him?

And what decision(s) did Les make in that game that helped him outcoach Saban?

Never said CLM out coached Saban but he did win that game and Saban made some bad choices that led to Bama losing.

Yes, Les outcoached Saban in that game. I know it must kill you to hear that.

Yes, he did. He also pretty much shed the "mad hatter" thing - at least in terms of gametime playcalling. Never forget that at the end of the 1st half, LSU was at the goal line and Les elected to kick the tying FG instead of "mad hatting" it. In a game where points were clearly at a massive premium, it was the exact right call.

Brad Wing was responsible for at least 25% of the team's success that year.

The line and the running game...sheesh. Go back and watch the Tennessee game (@ Neyland.) That 2nd half has to be one of the single most demoralizing stretches I've ever seen put on one poor squad. Kenny Hilliard FTW!

The Honey Badger - if not for the stupid synthetic pot thing, he clearly would have won the Heisman as well.

In the era of relative parity, I declare it the greatest regular (and title game) season of all time.

I still maintain that on his death bed, Les will reveal WTF actually happened on 1-9-12. Never forget that in the 4th quarter, he ran 13 out of 15 RUNNING PLAYS in a game that was still within reach. I don't GAF if Rudy is the damned QB...you air it out when the clock is running out on you!

Process the fact that our D and special teams were so incredible that our stats were often kinda screwed up because the offense started from a short field so often.

Les’s downfall actually was winning the game of the century. It took the Reid INT, a 70 yd Wing punt, and a shitty Alabama kicker to win.

1. Reid's interception was one LSu's greatest plays ever(DBU)

2.Saban put Maze out there with a bum leg. It was a straight kick that shouldve been easily caught with room to return. Still a helluva punt. Miles found him in Australia.

3.Alabama's kickers were absolutely horrible. Maybe the worst in the country. Saban had been there long enough to have found a decent kicker. These two for their credit, missed from 47, 49 and 52 in that order. Those were no gimmies under that pressure for many good kickers. These 2 were under a ton of pressure that was mounting on every missed kick. Then Saban pulls the one kicker for the other and just adds to the gump show. One kick was blocked. Coaching error?
Why would you even attempt the 52 yarder and give up the field position? I wonder what vegas wouldve had that line on whether that dude makes that 52 yarder. It was at least 2-1, he wouldnt kick it 52 yards period.

PS Ryan Baker was on that team.

How many power 5 teams can say they beat every team on their schedule and still not win the title?

Watched every second of it my good man and could have gone either way with simultaneous possession. Not nearly as clear as #7 interception against BAMA with not one but 2 inbounds!! Either way that play was called a replay doesn’t change it!! Just glad it went our way.

Why are we talking about 2008 in a thread about 2011?
