In a plan designed to tackle hyperinflation, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Friday announced plans to raise his country's minimum wage and create a single exchange rate pegged to his government's petro-backed cryptocurrency, effectively devaluing the country's currency by 96%, Reuters reported.
Venezuelans rushed to shops Friday to stock up on goods before the monetary overhaul — which will remove five zeros from prices — took effect.

What do you think SS, medicare/medicaid the military,and VA, etc are? In fact lets cur all the socialist programs in America and see what's left standing. It's too bad you've been supporting socialism your whole life under the guise of patriotism and freedom

For the record, tuggers, none of those are socialist in character other than the VA. Wealth transfers, while I do not condone them, are hardly the same thing as the state operating a certain sector or industry.

Their government issued crypto is backed by their oil reserves, however, unlike bitcoin, they can issue as many as they want. So it’s just another scheme to pick the pockets of the Venezuelan populace by their government officials, in a few different ways.
