Let's talk about Politics, Time, and the Pendulum

America, our beloved, was officially founded in 1776. America, our home, was founded 300 years before.

300 years. Imagine that amount of time, the struggles, the changes. That's before we even had the gumption to even try to change the game.

We purchased and enslaved a race of humans, even before we had a country of our own. We were still slaves to the crown.

We continued that policy for another hundred years, and perpetuated it for nearly another hundred, through unenlightened, stifling, backward political maneuvering.

We're now 50 years passed. We're expecting a Pendulum that has swung hard in one direction for nearly five hundred years to somehow swing back and stop, dead center, after 50.

It's the height of arrogance and hubris and egocentricity to really believe that we're going to see that Pendulum stop, without swinging back completely opposite, at least for an amount of time that we won't outlast.

We're there now. We need to understand that this moment is only as crucial as every other moment that every other generation lived through, and recognize that it's not as significant as we think.

Hopefully this Nation finds equilibrium one day, and I hope our children's children's children bask in it. We need to realize we will not bask in it, we need to accept that, and try to make the best of what we have time for.
