Great bodies: Hard word & determination, or just mental disorders?

So I joined a gym and see all these dudes admiring themselves in the mirror after every curl, and women in skin tight outfits who for some reason can only do yoga stretches in the middle of the free weight section, and I began to wonder "do i have what it takes to create the body others admire?", and began to list in my mind what kind of dedication and work would be involved.
Waking up at 5 am to work out, working out at lunch, and then again after work, living off salad, chicken breast, supplements, smoothies, regurgitation, etc...balancing and weighing every meal....and began to think that only someone who is mentally ill could muster up such determination.
Imagine the cleanest, most organized, perfectly decorated house you ever saw. You admire it, you wish your house looked the same....but it's not normal and only someone who is severely OCD suffering from one or many mental disorders would be compelled enough to live that way.
It's not about hard work or determination, it's about compulsion, if you suffered from a condition that means that your entire world stops if a picture is crooked then it's almost ZERO work or determination to keep your house in perfect order. There is no Choice. You don't "choose" to change your bed sheets every morning, you "have to". You don't "choose" to go to the gym, you "need" to because the last time you looked in the mirror your left bicep looked 1 nanometer smaller than your right and it gives you anxiety.
My hypothesis, we allow mentally deranged people to set the bar that normal people are judged by.

It’s a tough story but people need to hear it
I knew a person like this one time. They had problems, but their will to overcome the problems exceeded the challenge of the task at hand.
Then everyone went and voted for something because someone tells a story about one person. That’s what your post is.

It certainly takes a different kind of person to reach a particular level of aesthetics. A bit of OCD, a bit of narcissism, a bit of a need for external validation, and a bit of insecurity.
But there's much worse hobbies out there, so do your thing folks and get them gainz.

I worked with a guy that was big into lifting weights. He had basically no other hobbies, that’s what he did. He actually started reverse dieting where he was increasing his caloric intake. He was up to almost 3000 calories a day. Now it was all chicken, veggies, etc but that’s still a lot of food. He would start losing weight if he didn’t eat.
His farts smelled like dogshit wrapped in rotten cabbage. And he would walk into a job trailer and crop dust his way down to the office all the damn time.
