The problem I see with this is that if CEO loses enough games to get fired that also reflects poorly on Aranda.

Hope not. LSU fans are crazy wanting Aranda as HC after hiring O. Need a proven winner who will no doubt change the culture of the program.

I hope not. And I really like Aranda. But when LSU fires O, I want them to go in an entirely new direction. Bring in new voices and a new vision. Don't continue to promote from Miles staff.

Familiarity breeds complacency. That's one of the problems I had with the O hire. LSU had a failing staff and they retained most of them. It's not that much of a shake up or a motivator for change.

One of the WWL sports talk guys talking to Deuce on the radio today made the assertion that Aranda was LSU’s head coach in waiting.

I believe he has to be factored into the next coaching search...or maybe has to be the leading candidate...something along those lines. It was part of his contract extension/raise when aTm was trying to pull him away. One of the hundreds of tRant football scholars will be here shortly to give you the exact verbiage of said contract.

This is bullshite if for no other reason than Alleva hasn't thought that far ahead.

If Orgeron fails do you think a defensive coordinator who has never been a head coach is going to be elevated to revive this program? There was so much bitching because Orgeron was not a big name with a successful record. People need to get over the infatuation with Aranda.

I’m really happy he is our DC. He has done nothing to hinder his rise to the top of his profession.

Kirby Smart was. Aranda is not my first choice but I could get behind him as our HC. We've been lacking basic intellect at the HC position for almost 15 years.

I agree with this.

The infatuation with Aranda is there because he has a great football mind and is a student of the game. He’s innovative. He’s young. His players play their asses off for him. If you could pair him with an OC that can get creative and score points then that would be a very dangerous team.

I wouldn’t mind seeing him at least get some consideration as HC whenever we fire O. In any case, I’d rather have him on our sideline than anyone else’s.

Not at all the same since Alabama was successful and Smart was just hired somewhere else. This would be back to back promotions from within, likely with a different AD for the 2nd hire. Dave's best chance for this job might be to leave then get hired after O is gone.

Here’s the problem I see with Aranda as head coach in waiting. If O is fired, surely that means Alleva is not far behind or might even be fired first. So, what AD is going to want to come here and be saddled with the previous guy’s head coach in waiting? The next AD would almost surely demand to be involved in hiring the next head coach, The only way I see around this would be for LSU to promote Aranda first, then hire an AD, which would lead to a shite hire or to hire an AD willing to take the previous AD’s hand picked head coach, which would also lead to a shite hire. Of course, given LSU’s recent history, a shite hire is certainly not out of the rhelm of possibility.

You’re not going to find that. Coaches are not jumping ship like they used to to come to the SEC. unless LSU forks over a huge contract, we will either have to get a defensive/offensive coordinator, settle for some head coach that has had some success at a smaller school (where there is no real reason to believe he can achieve the same in the SEC), of give someone a huge contract like A&M did.

Just want to point out that FSU was Jimbo's first head gig.
