I miss college football in the 90’s. Nowadays it’s a watered down corporate feel NFL development league.

ESPN has the rights to the playoff games and pretty much 100% of their focus is on the playoff.
ESPN also has the rights to 30 other non-playoff bowl games. Focusing on the teams in the running for the national championship isnt something new because of the CFP

Having a segment on Kansas might be fun. Looking into why they have failed so so horribly is like watching a dumpster fire that no one could look away from.

29.
This idea that "CFB is too watered down is a pretty weak argument". What about it makes it such a poor product to watch?

It was, but the culture of the 90s (esp sports media without social media) wasn’t as accelerated as is today.

That's easy. They fired Mark Mangino and their next three coaching hires were Turner Gill (based on one fluke win as HC of Buffalo), Charlie Weis (no explanation necessary), and David Beaty. You want to send a football program into the shitter for a decade? Whiff on three straight coaching hires.

I knew a guy who played under Mangino and he said they pretty much had to fire him. The players all loathed him

The others may be interesting but let's be honest. The list of teams that will probably make the CFP every year is a pretty short list.

Yeah I think this is part of it. The CFP era is still small, just 4 seasons, and there hasn't been any real turnover at the top of college football over that span.
Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State have pretty much been a fixture in the top 5 that entire time. There' usually a little bit more variety and eventually there will be again.

I'm sick of hearing about Georgia.

The CFP has made all the other bowl games much less significant. Before, the other BCS Bowls, and even the 2nd tier bowls like Cotton and Citrus, meant something, which meant all the teams competing for those bowls, and not just the top 7 or 8 teams competing for the four playoff spots, got more coverage.

Turn it over to the Longhorn Network.

UGA just became a thing after being irrelevant for a while. Why are you already sick of them?

This is absolutely true and something people don't seem to grasp, maybe it's just younger people.
It's true that lower tier bowls were always "irrelevant" however they were generally not viewed or treated by the fans and media as such.
The BCS becoming the 'official' way of crowning the champion took a big shine off the other bowls.
And now the CFP being even more organized and 'official' has made it even more so.
The national champion was always a big deal in college football but as the system for crowning the national champion has grown in prominence and being more organized and official, it has taken on a priority and attention that it didn't quite have before.
National championship or bust is fine for about 10-15 in any given year and maybe a realistic gola for maybe 25-30 teams, but the remaining 100'ish teams are essentially viewed as the Washington Generals at this point and it wasn't really that way before.
