After the drive into the lateral water hazard.
Saw some comments on Twitter that he grounded his club in the hazard.
I cant seem to find video of that particular shot to go back and see. Anyone notice this or have a definitive answer?

He didn't ground his club. The club was hovering on the top of the grass which is legal. You're club can be on the grass or rough or whatever, it just can't be resting on the ground.

Got ya. I wasn't paying attention to it live and like I said, haven't been able to find the clip of it.

And you can brush the grass during practice swings. If you're by a tree/bush though and your practice swing alters the branches, that's a penalty.

Tiger called in a rules official to ask a question. The official didn't leave and saw the shot. End of non story.

This is correct. The only thing you have to worry about in a hazard (other than grounding your club) is moving loose impediments. So, you can brush grass that's growing out of the ground, but if there's a dead stick laying on the ground and you or your club moves it before the downstroke of your shot, it's a penalty

Thank God call ins are no longer taken
they never should have allowed it in the first place.

The call ins wouldn’t have even mattered.
Just crazy that Rick Reilly who has covered golf for the last however many years doesn’t know this rule.

But what does Brandel Chamblee think?
