The marketing was really weird, I didn’t see it till it was out of theatres myself bc it looked pretty dumb. Caught it on a flight and it’s fantastic.

Why down vote this good review?

Continuity in James Bond films don’t matter. Look at the timeline. No way does an agent in the 60s appear that young in current days.
You should consider every new actor to essentially be a reboot of the series

1967. Casino Royale. Revealed that James Bond is a code name.

Not apart of the Eon Productions canon. Nice try though.
Want us to list everything from the "Eon" productions that can't possibly be canon? You've got a Bond born in '68 who didn't turn 21 until '90. He missed the entire Cold War.

Continuity most definitely existed in the James Bond series all the way up until Timothy Dalton took the role in 1986-87.
Sean Connery was 31 years old when he filmed Dr. No back in 1962. At the end of Roger Moore's run as Bond in 1985's A View to a Kill, Moore himself was in his late-50s. One could deduce that from 1962-1985, we watched as Bond went from a young and cocky field agent in Dr. No to an aging, confident, and more mature field agent in A View to a Kill.
Even though Bond inexplicably got 15 years younger between A View to a Kill and The Living Daylights, he still maintained the same personal and professional relationships with established characters - indicating that it was the same man despite the difference in age.

The Daniel Craig version of Bond is clearly a reboot of the character as Casino Royale was clearly a reboot of the entire franchise.
Nice try though.

No way man, James Bond movies are very serious documentary style renactment films and the historical accuracy of the real MI6 agent Commander James Herbert Bond is of the utmost importance.

Dang. And here I was thinking they were movies made simply to entertain. I never once gave it a thought that James Bond hasn't aged appropriately... or that hell... he even looks COMPLETELY different in some movies. Had I known what I was supposed to be looking for, I'm certain that I'd have enjoyed them much less.
FWIW, I think Idris Elba would make a fantastic James Bond. I wonder if they've considered him as the next bond?

By the way, the first black Felix Leiter was Bernie Casey way back in '83. But since that was a different production company, I'm guessing that the warped logic of this thread would result in a Sean Connery Bond film not being a part of the Sean Connery canon.

How is it warped logic to say a non-canonical movie isn’t part of James Bond canon?

I can’t think of a franchise in which the canon is objectively less important than James Bond

That's the price you pay for a character that stays in a certain age range in a 50 year film franchise.
If Elba is Bond, he could maintain the same personal and professional relationships, indicating he's the same man. This presumes the viewer isn't so stuck on race that race is somehow different than the other lack of continuity the films have to have.

I have documentary evidence as to their motives, not conjecture
I also have documentary evidence of Connery’s Bond drinking cocktails other than the famous vodka martini. Just watch the movies. And in the novels, Bond has a habit of “drinking locally.” Hence the Bourbon he has in the French Quarter of New Orleans in Live and Let Die.
And the fact that he continues to hold the vodka martini as his beverage of choice proves you ultimately wrong.

There is a difference between canon and continuity. Canon includes the car he drives, the tuxedo he wears, the beverages he consumes, the catchphrases he uses. Take those away and it is not Bond.
