And how stupid we are to be fighting to screw it up?

How important it is that all citizens work towards keeping the government in check cannot be overstated.

Government is the great equalizer. It can spawn generations of enlightenment and it can usher in generations of depression and darkness.

If you grew up in America and still live here, then you grew up and live in the greatest country in history during the greatest period for humanity in history.

Americans make up roughly 4.5% of the population on earth. It is a shame to waste what we have and get bogged down by the petty squabbles and mundane malaise.

If we could all just realize and take in how lucky we are to be Americans regardless of color creed or code maybe we could get past the identity politics and divisive political discourse and just work to keep our country great and prosperous.

There is nothing more important than discussing our beliefs and ideas and trying to find common ground and understanding. The ability to do that freely is what makes America unique.

Before we start attacking each other in every thread based on party lines we should take a moment to take a breathe and try to just discuss the issues rather than personal insults and distracting nonsense posts.

We should all be independents. Free thinkers. Americans.

We all won the historical lottery to have been born in this country at this time in our history.

I actually think about this quite often. Just a generation or two earlier and the game changes completely for a lot of us (and likely not for the better compared to present day).

I do like the idea underlying this thread. It’s just the execution of it that remains a messy proposition, but endeavor we shall.......

And who is it that hypes those "petty squabbles"?

Perhaps it is the people spending ALL frickING DAY talking about calling a dog a dog rather than reporting on a woman beater winning a primary to be the top law officer in one of those so called "enlightened" blue states.

That simply doesn't fit the agenda , for either of the establishment party members.

We are truly blessed not to be faced with hardships and suffering that is unimaginable that has been part and parcel human existence almost our entire history. This is also a load we must bare....we haven’t learned how to handle our free time....a luxury we have mo experience with through ancestry. If you plow a mule in the sun all day long petty differences have less meaning cause you are tired. There is a lot of truth to the old maxim that idol hands are the devils workshop. We are idol most of the time and therefore makeup shite to busy ourselves with.....taking kids to after school activities they are only interested in to humor us, buying shite we don’t need and don’t want ( ride through a typical subdivision on a Saturday morning when garage doors are open....loads of expensive shite we no longer use if we ever did). We buy shite because we have time and money to do so.....then we don’t have the time or money to use it so we buy the next thing. We push ourselves to stress because we don’t know what to do when our basic needs are met and there is still daylight out.....so we turn introspective. We try to answer why we feel angst and look for someone to blame....and there are a lot of people making a lot of money and garnering a lot of power facilitating the idea that our angst is the others fault.

I suspect people were anxious in the early days of the industrial revolution.....there was a lot of turmoil for certain. We are in the same phase with the Information Age. We have the collective knowledge of mankind at our finger tips and it is over whelming. Couple this with loads of free time we look for ways to fil, mostly with meaningless bullshite....and here we are.

I have known from an early age that being positive is contagious as is being negative. In the last 6 months or so I have started working hard to apply this knowledge to everyday life. I go out of my way to be nice to folks. It costs nothing and is very rewarding. Just thank you and how are you doing....that sort of thing. I am also making a conscience effort to listen to people when they speak....it’s amazing! I am not suggesting it’s for everyone but I find I am much happier being nice to people and going out of my way to communicate....and listening is about 9/10s of communication. I don’t know if it will make the world a better place but I know for certain it has made MY world better for me.

Not many people get to watch the twilight of their civilization. To watch the whole of the western world kill itself while the citizens virtue signal that at least they were never called racist is fascinating. If things stay the same in another couple decades the western world will be Brazil, at best.

This is why the MSM pretty much refuses to show any world news. They are afraid people would see how shitty much of the world is and then realize how it's really not that bad here for pretty much everyone.

My kids and I sit and watch the world news and I don't really chime in. My 8 year old has already stated "daddy I'm glad we live in America where I can ride my bike up and down the street and play outside. These other places the kids can't even play".

I did not put that in her head. She derived that herself simply by being exposed to the rest of the world an issues they face.

Our media keeps much of our populace in a bubble. It is a huge concern of mine for all this social media and their algorithms setup to tailor itself to the user. The user ends up with tunnel vision.

Many are losing perspective. That is a very dangerous thing. If our media ran Venezuela and how shitty it is every night I believe it would have a huge impact.
