In BR’s TheAdvocate, LSU safety John Battle thought the rain had a big effect in the drops in LSU’s last scrimmage. LSU coaches making all defensive players work extra drills, and are wanting to see it pay off. Players do push ups after every drop.

Welp. Here's to hoping the secondary was just making plays and not that our QBs threw (at least) five balls that should have been picked.

This helps with discipline. We need punishment for every group. Up-Downs for OL missing blocks. Running a lap for bad route running. This stuff gets the team closer and more disciplined. If one player messes up the entire group pays for it. Because if one player messes up in a game, the entire team pays for it.

Should be group punishment. One ball drop all WR or DB do pushups

Or make the guy who dropped it stand there and watch as all the others do push ups.

Shouldn't they do something that works on hand strength if the point is to not drop the ball?

So QB’s could have thrown 5 picks and the defense could have had 5 turnovers?

Not really good for anyone.

Kinda funny when the older crowd thinks making kids do push-ups is “discipline”. What a joke, it’s not like they meant to drop the interception and doing push-ups will never change that.

Also in article, DE Logan says McMillan and Narcisse were the two most evasive QB’s, namely McMillan.

“I tried to go after McMillan, and it didn’t look really good. He left me in the dust.”

It’s not about the push ups but the accountability and focus.

Its accountability for focus issue just like all lineman should do updowns if one jumps offsides

You find me a kid that "wants" to run laps or do pushups for the heck of it send him my way. When you make a kid run or do pushups for a missed assignment, blown coverage, or dropped interceptions the demeanor and work ethic of that kid changes. They learn it's much easier to do your job and not listen to the screaming, yelling, or punishment that comes with it. But us order crowd doesn't know nothing because kids nowadays want the easy way out and not work hard for anything in life like your post suggests.

Im not the older crowd. Im 24. I played high school ball and the difference from having a ring on your finger and not having on is discipline. If you never played ball, you wouldn’t understand.

Discipline has always been the focus in football. Wish it was the focus everywhere in our schools

You do understand the pushups are to draw extra focus to the area, what would you rather them do? Please give us your expert analysis

I coach high school football, and our players do the same thing. They dont have to be told to do it, they just know to do it when they screw up.
