Would you believe me if I told you our courts have held that if a dog smells drugs 98% of the time, but actually finds it 55% of the time- that the search was legal?

I agree. It's still stupid to carry that amount of cash. If this nimrod does so much cash business and travels, he was more than likely well aware of the dangers, most illegal, of doing so.
An expensive point to prove on his part. He could have went to the bank and deposited it in a matter of minutes.

Why did you decide to latch on the search portion of the 4th Amendment when the conversation here is clearly about the seizure aspect of the 4th Amendment?
