I was just given a cast iron skillet,it doesn't have a brand name but on the bottom it says made in USA NO. 5 and
8 1/8 IN.The inside is really smooth and the bottom has a raised ring around it. Does anyone have any idea what brand it is?

It's a Clark Griswald, just a cheap piece of crap made for the movie. I'll give you 29 bucks for it cuz I'm a big fan of the movie.

If you season it well it will be the best cooking pan you have and non stick, better than all this fancy crap they have out now.
Scrub it with salt water
Then oil it and put it upside down in the over for an hour
I cook everything I cook in mine, great for steaks.
Get it as hot as possible "glowing" and slap a steak on it.

Sounds like a Birmingham Stove and Range. Look at the underside of the handle and see if the hole is teardrop shaped and scooped out with a raised ridge that runs from the point of the hole back to the pan. If so its definitely a bs&r.
These are great skillets. While they are heavier than a wagner or griswald, the insides were milled smooth, unlike the also heavy lodge skillets. Being heavy they wont warp like a wagner or griswald will.

If you decide it (being unnamed) is not up to your standards, let me know and I will refund your money and take it off your hands.
Trust me, I understand the pain of having to cook with an unbranded cast iron skillet and the shame of F&D people knowing you own one.
