That's literally what Clay Travis referenced.

it's real shitty, and a good representation of him and his "fans"
Only someone using prog filth logic would find that to be a bad thing.
In other words, cptbengal = prog filth.

This is the new information that wasn't discussed in the other thread.
It's not new information.
From the LeBron James Family Foundation website in 2015:
quote:
At the 2015 Family Reunion at Cedar Point, our families received news that would change their lives forever. They learned that JPMorgan Chase would be dedicating a technology team to develop software to track the academic progress of Foundation students. That The University of Akron’s College of Education would be renamed the LeBron James Family Foundation College of Education. Most importantly, they learned that in conjunction with the Foundation and its partners, The University of Akron would provide Foundation students (who meet a certain set of requirements and graduate from Akron Public Schools) with a tuition and fees scholarship to The University of Akron.

Well I'll have to pay only 75%. But i didnt actually NEED a new school, so I'm actually out that 75% of the cost above my normal budget.
Your desperation is noticeable even by your high standards.

Was it not represented as Lebron promising to give all the graduates scholarships to Akron?

I was led to believe LeBron was personally paying the entire school budget for the state of Ohio.
This falls far short of that, and I think that's a really bad reflection on LeBron.

wait.
this is anew school. so if they have leBron's 2 million per year, they get to increase spending by 6 million a year!
yay! fricking imbecile.

Univeristy of Akron is paying for that

That's not really the point, it's how much of the story was embellished to make him look good, especially during a heated political spat.
The story about the school came out well before the political spat. Blame Trump for the timing of the political spat.

now the MAGA crowd will dig up any dirt possible on LeBron and make it as big a deal as possible.
Which is asinine since the "dirt" was there all along. They didn't bother to read about the school. That's their fault, not LeBron's.

ESPN's article said that Lebron's foundation arranged for graduates to get free tuition to Akron. Most people probably took this as LBJ was paying for it.

I didn’t read the tweet, but that scene popped into my head immediately. He needed up making Erin pass out free laptop batteries

Agreed. 100%. Trump picked an idiotic battle there.

My problem is this.... Are Americans supposed to independently research every news story they come across to verify that the media isn't leaving out crucial details to the story? They constantly come on my TV screen and tell me how important they are, yet now I can't trust that they are telling me the full story?
I agree it's not LeBron's fault. However, LeBron has waded into the political arena and in 2018 it's nasty on both sides. He knew what he was getting involved in.

You don't understand how any of this works.
The VAST majority of the funding from the Akron Public School system is money they were already spending on these students.
They pulled teachers and students form other schools into the I Promise school. They will eventually pull 25% of the "at-risk" students out of the regular schools. They were spending money on these students anyway. The LeBron James Family Foundation and others are helping covering the extras that the I Promise school provides.
Hell, the building for the school already existed. It was a property they were maintaining and using as a temporary school when necessary.

That's pretty vague language. Not LeBron's fault. ESPN's fault (or LeBron's publicist).

That was probably the point of the vague language.
