The way I see it is liberals want the government taking and redistributing your money. They're also on some government controlled binge on "social justice."

Conservatives talk about keeping the government out of your life, but they want the government controlling who can get married, what days of the week you can buy alcohol, what religion should be present in schools, and when and where you can or cant gamble.

So if you truly support a limited federal government, why would any conservative support the Republican party over the Libertarian party?

Their one semi-legitimate beef is on immigration. Everything else is simply evidence that they aren't actually conservatives.

Immigration and border security.

And having the balls to fight the culture wars the left wages on the rest of us who don't share their views.

I vote R but I am in no way Conservative. I'm pretty much hated by both sides.

I’d like libertarians a lot more if they didn’t insist on showing up to their convention wearing assless chaps.

Libertarians actually care about principles.

The problem with Republicans these days is they seem to care more about revenge and "winning".

I think the main difference is conservatives are generally federalists.

The question was addressed to conservatives not Republicans.

There are many facets of libertarianism that arent practical in the current climate.

Sure it's a nice ideology, just dont see where people would let it happen.

I'm not just going to let them sit in the closet like that.

At its most fundamental libertarianism isn’t practical. I don’t have a beef with it but that is the problem with it. I espouse a lot of libertarian beliefs myself. And I am most likely not considered a conservative by most definitions.

Libertarianism is a fantasy.

A nice one, but a fantasy.

Well....pretty much the same thing. Conservatives/Republicans are not shy about wanting the government controlling parts of your life.

If we want to paint in such absurdly broad strokes, then conservatism is not only a fantasy, but one destined to always lose on a long enough timeline.

Libertarians just can’t seem to purge the weirdos.

Otherwise, I’m good with them.

That statement proves exactly my point.
