He don't care if O gets fired this year, he just wants to be able to post a dozen threads a day stating O is a failure.

“He will not be fired this year for winning 8...”

So, firing a NC Coach after a 9 win, 16th ranked season, 5 yrs to go on his contract is acceptable, but firing a 8 win, unranked, never overly successful Coach isn’t??

Not saying I disagree with your assertion, But just wondering who is running the show and how long it might be before someone loses their job

Actually, terriblegreen is probably right unfortunately. If O wins 8 he may be safe...but I guarantee it gets Alleva fired. That means O wouldn’t have long, but we’d probably have to endure a lame duck season.

The record certainly matters, but there has to be more to it than that.

Look at these reg. seasons
2001 8-3 5-3 in the SEC
2002 8-4 5-3 in the SEC
2004 9-2 5-3 SEC crushed by Ga.
2009 9/3 5-3 in SEC
2017 9-3 6-2 in West lost to Troy

Records are similar but some seasons are better than others.

We could go 9-3 and win the west.
We could go 9-3 and get blown out three games.

How we play makes a difference.

“ but I guarantee”

With the leadedship we have in Louisiana and at LSU right now, I’m not even sure that happens.

Think about it. Who, in their right mind, thinks that getting rid of the most successful coach in LSU history who is still having nationally ranked teams and recruiting very well to replace him with a totally unproven HC commodity is the right move for LSU football??? Forget about whether it works out or not, just on the face of it it appears to be a disaster waiting to happen. Imo

This is the biggest problem with the program right now. This kind of thinking right here.

You could have said the same about Jimbo when he took over for Bowden or about Bill O'Brien when he took over for Paterno. The same about Riley when he replaced Stoops.

There's precedent for success, and there's precedent for failure.

You can bet your sweet arse that right about now, all the cute little Pump Lump Nut Butter Cheerleader MA's are putting the finishing touches on their 2018 season master list of excuses that they'll use for every loss.

Mediocrity..... Embrace and love it.
Mediocrity..... Accept it and be a MA.

“You could have said the same thing”

BB in 3 of his last 4 yrs. was 7-6 and Jimbo was a well respected OC who had been a successful OC at 2 different power football programs. Penn St had much, much bigger problems than picking a football coach. I don’t think those 2 examples are valid.

We all know hiring a coach is a gamble. My thing is, if you fire a losing record coach your gamble is much less. You were losing already so it’s no big set back for your program. But if you having NR teams and high ranked recruiting classes the gamble is magnified big time. That’s why the process has to be handled so carefully and ours doesn’t seem to have been.

No, it’s not. Just because 2017 was a historically easy schedule and he shite the bed doesn’t give Ed license to lose more against a more typical LSU schedule.
