Running shoe recommendations

I run pavement, treadmill, occasionally trail if I'm not home. I currently have 5 year old New Balance. They are OK I guess. Not super cushiony. I want to invest in a new pair. I'm bias toward Asics. Actually have never own any Asics. I think I can get a good pair for under $130?

Just bought some running shoes a couple of months ago. I didn’t care for the feel of the sole of Asics. It has a gel sole and I could feel it squish between my toes. I ended up with Brooks and I couldn’t be happier.

I got the ASICS Gel-Kayano 24s and I love them.
I’m going to try the Hoka One One running shoes next though

That's 4 1/2 years too old. I have been extremely happy with Brooks the past few years.

Got fit for a pair of Saucony's. excellent shoe. Far better than my Brooks in terms of comfort. Brooks were lighter.

Holy cow.
You should replace shoes every few hundred miles of running.
Further, you should use running shoes only for that, running.
No wearing them to the mall and going out to eat dinner in them.
Just go to your local running shoe store and get fitted with a pair. Prices are essentially fixed, so you aren't paying more for them locally than what you'd pay online.

Go to a store that knows what they are talking about. Everyone has a specific shoe just for their running style. If you just go out an buy any shoe that someone posts it could be the wrong shoe for you and cause an injury. If you lives in New Orleans go to Louisiana running.

Got fitted at Fleet Feet in Ridgeland, MS. Incredible store if you love running. All run no lifestyle stuff. Got Gel-Cumulus 20.

Bought the brooks ghost 10 and there wasn’t even a break in period. Perfectly comfortable right out of the box.

don't go by a person's recommendation on here. i know great runners that love Hoka and Altra and i hate them both (they're great shoes, just not for me.) find out what kind of runner you are, get fitted, and try on tons of shoes. people at dicks and academy probably aren't going to know how to fit you most likely.
i'm eclectic in that i like to rotate shoes.
i have some sauconys that stay in the car with me for travel
brooks that are good for tempo runs
sauconys that are good for sprints
asics that i run trails in
NB that i do slow pavement pounding in.
NB that i do gym and runs afterwards in.
i honestly don't even have a favorite, i just like options.

The Brooks Ghost 10 are now $20 cheaper since the 11 came out. It has been my favorite shoe to date. Like others have said, go get fitted though.

Don't let brand loyalty affect your decision. They will provide a few options based on their assessment and just pick the one that feel best. I just bought some a couple of weeks ago and went into the store expecting to buy New Balance... I wound up buying Skechers of all brands. I didn't even realize that they had gotten into making performance shoes but I love them. The Gorun Forza 3 is what I wound up with but that was just what worked for me. You may be totally different.

i agree shoes are not one size fits all, but i've never met anybody (myself included) disappointed in Ghosts. Great shoe.

Grabbed a pair of Ghost 11’s today. Tried on a handful of others and these felt the best by far.

Someone needs to start a thread about "Running Shoes Thread" that needs to be stickied that stays on the top of this board
I'm no expert of shoes to run with beginner to marathoner so I won't do it. I think someone who visits this board often with good knowledge of running shoes for different levels of runners would be appreciated. Seems like most of the running shoe threads are redundant
