YouTube
I just saw this trailer today and if any of y’all like military videos this is a very accurate depiction of what boot camp is like now. The guy who says “welcome to the US Navy” at the end is known as the Lizard King, he told us about how he made a recruit shite his pants one time, very intimidating guy. It comes out on August 6th.

Been there, done that
The really compelling things about bootcamp would never make it on TV
Examples from my experience during Navy Bootcamp in '96
1. Dude sewing the skin above his 4 knuckles together after getting reamed out for a sloppy salute
2. RDC's mocking us as "pussies" because a female recruit was singing and dancing inside the teargas chamber, completely unaffected by it.
3. 10pm running in formation for over 90 minutes in a Drill Hall while a female RDC calls us a "bunch of soft assed faggots that would never get another chance of dipping our limpdicks into anything other than our sister's snatch"
4. Having one RDC swinging a Louisville Slugger on the ground close to you while you are doing pushups.
5. Arranging "meetups" with female recruits during liberty weekend.
6. The massive mockery one recruit received when he was too scared to jump off a 10' platform into the pool. Think two RDCs at the top of the platform screaming at you and two Navy Divers in the water calling you every name in the book. The recruit had signed up for BUDs but was quickly processed out that day.
7. All the guys purged when they pop positive on the initial in-doc drug screening

Marine Corps Drill Instructors just put recruits in dryers now a days. It's a right of passage though
.
I think one of the worst things I had happen was IT w/ a water bottle. Drill Instructors made a few of us keep drinking water, at times would walk up and shove the canteen further in our faces. Ended up puking all over and had to clean it up.

I watched the documentary series "Carriers" (on Prime right now) from like ~2006 recently and let's just say being an enlisted sailor in the Navy looks like it sucks major arse. Could not imagine joining the Navy, going through boot camp, getting assigned to a ship,,, and being assigned to be a janitor for the entire deployment.

lol I never understood how people felt "traumatized" after boot camp. Sure they mess with your head a lot but its no worse then my high school
coaches in august football practice. and you are in the military stop being a baby. I was at Benning and they had grown arse men crying at night about how much they miss their "girlfriend." like grow up lol

Boot camp has been a joke since they stopped allowing physical violence. If you cry bc someone yells at you then you should probably find a different job.

Some people are too sheltered and people now take things to heart way too often.

It’s gotten softer. Good news is they are starting to make it more challenging, I credit it to Trump being in office and having Mad Dog as Sec. of Defense.
Examples being:
- Sustained runs in basic start at 20 minutes and go to 40, used to start at 5 and go to 35(I believe).
- You will have to qualify as marksman to graduate now. Not that hard but some people can’t shoot the broad side of a barn.
-You now have to pass battle stations to graduate.
We’re headed in the right direction. Definitely isn’t as physical as it used to be but we are getting better.

Thought you had to pass battle stations when I went through, 2003. May be wrong though, I know the marksman qual is new, dont remember about the runs.
Glad to see it isnt just sitting around talking about your feelings, figured it softened up quite a bit, as I'm sure my experience was a lot easier than guys who went in 15 years before me.

This is a board full of private Catholic school graduates and LSU legacies. They get rustled in every “stop being fat” thread.
Most talk shite because they know they couldn’t hack it in any military branch boot camp. Save Air Force of course...
