Interesting considering that this is the same state that overwhelmingly votes for the Bern every 6 years

Louisiana has a Democrat governor
State level politics are much more elastic than national politics

Voters must have confused the "R" after the candidate's name for RADICAL instead of Republican. Could happen in a Bernie world.....

Upper New Englanders are an odd political lot.
I guess it's easy to be so when you have essentially no underclass.

There's a saying that all politics are local.
That's why those national party preference polls are so useless.
Individual candidates and policies matter. That's why someone like Roy Moore can't win in Alabama despite party.

And Mittens was a two term R governor of Taxachussets. Didn’t help him any in 2012.

Blue states often elect Republican governors because, as usual with Democrats, they don't really like paying more taxes, but are fine with other people paying more taxes.

Like others have said in this thread, the dynamics of state politics are often different than at the national level. Still, Phil Scott and his northeastern Republican colleagues like Larry Hogan in Maryland and Charlie Baker in Massachusetts are really moderate to center-left leaning Republicans. They have to be given the political dynamics of their respective states.
