Who among the current SEC head coaches played at the pro or College level?

How many were linemen? If seems that some can't resist the temptation to mess with the offense even if their playing experience suggests they shouldn't. I would prefer a skill position player, and that would include defensive backs.

Nick was a DB
Muschamp was a safety
O was DL at NSU by way of LSU
Matt Luke played center at Ole Miss
Merlin played tight end (I think) somewhere like DIII school.
That’s all I can remember off the top of my head.

I'd think all of them played college ball.

Other than QB, OL in today's game have more reads and pre-snap decisions to make.
DL, their reads are mostly post-snap.
I don't see where being a Lineman means it's "meddling" in things they "know nothing about". And playing a skill position doesn't mean they are more versed in running an offense. I think WRs are the least involved of any position in what the other positions are doing.
I don't think 1 single HC is a former WR. The majority were DBs it seems. 2 Linemen, as stated above, and a sprinkling of QBs for the most part. 1 LB I can think of (Odom).
1 HC did not play: Chad Morris
I can think of only 1 coordinator who did not play: Aranda

Saban was a defensive back at Kent State and was a student there at the time of the Kent State shootings.

OL is not all about individual size and strength. If ALL 5 STARTERS don't know their assignments, it all falls apart. That's LSU's main OL problem now.
Maybe Cregg can improve some of this, but long term it can only be corrected through recruiting.
It all starts with a Center that knows all the line calls. LSU aint got one currently (Why not?) and it all goes downhill after that.
Hopefully Burrow can get the ball out quicker to our WR's before the protection breaks down or a "Bad OL Read" get's him killed.

Why do you keep claiming the O-Linemen don't know their assignments? I guarantee you have no inside information to back that up. The two freshmen starters last year knew their assignments well enough to play well and play Bama better than did the last few o-lines. Brumfield knows his arraignments. I'd bet a nickle that you feel Deculus knows his assignments.
Being semhackass (BRAVEHEAT) I know what you mean. You believe the current makeup of the o-line makes it impossible for them to have the intelligence and quick thinking ability to be successful. However that is based on your inbred bias. You've already expressed your belief that LSU needs recruit only "up north" linemen. You sir are a pimple on the butt of LSU football.
What type work do you do? I am curious. I shutter at the thought of you being in a position that affects the lives of others.
