I want to read that article but will hold off due to it being Gawker shite.

The new update is awesome, it's like an entirely different game, everything is streamlined and better, third person view is there now, real multiplayer, unlimited base building anywhere you want...
If they hold off and released this originally things would have been waaay different, and that's coming from a fan of the early game

I agree. I started playing on PS4 last weekend (missed out on today’s sale) and it’s amazing to see the difference in the gameplay with the new update. The new on boarding process is a good tutorial on what to do in the game, the UI is vastly improved, the graphics and draw distance are improved and the 3rd person view provides a different feel to the game. I did notice that the frame rate wasn’t solid so that’s a mark against it. Otherwise, I’m really engaged with the new update and think this is the full version that people originally expected.

I saw one person stating they were thinking of starting over.
I have put probably 50-60 hours into the game and have the spaces in my backpack maxed out and also have a super expensive ship from farming for so long.
Do you think it’s worth it to start over? I honestly don’t really want to farm the money/exosuit spaces again, but if I have to, I will.
ETA: And by have to, I’m asking if I’ll be missing anything in what little story there is.

No idea if you have to or not. I doubt it's required.

I know the last big update didn’t force me to do it or anything, I just don’t want to miss something that’s been added.

Anyone playing it on PC? How good of a machine do you need? I haven't upgraded mine in a while, though my system slightly exceeds the listed minimum requirements.

Just bought it last night in steam for $30, figured why not. I'll let you know my experience, I just put together a mid range pc.

I invested in it after hold off on the release. The game is fricking awesome.

I fired my game back up and I’m pretty butthurt lol
I had a lot of upgrades, but like max jet pack, all the environmental defenses, a bombass ship and an almost fully maxed multi-tool and it reset it all back to base.
It also took me awhile to get used to the new materials and I only got destroyed by enemy ships like 4 times before turning it off because my jump engine was out of fuel and I was trying to farm asteroids.
Idk how to feel lol

I ended up grabbing it on PS4 last night. Realized it was on sale for $27 for PS+ members. I think I made a mistake right out of the gate, though. I've never played this game before and I picked "Survival" mode. I guess I was hoping for a "Matt Damon stranded on Mars" kind of experience and got more than I bargained for.
The planet I started on had a steady radiation level of about 7 rads along with radiation storms that bumped it up to 10 rads, so my environmental suit was constantly and quickly draining. I died twice while just trying to read about and locate the elements needed to replenish my hazard protection and life support.
I eventually got a feel for what to look for in the environment, repaired part of my ship and headed off to look for a pneumatic seal, which I found in some wreckage a decent hike away. The problem is that I couldn't find my way back to my ship. I didn't pay much attention to keeping my bearings while heading to the wreckage because I assumed there would be some way to locate it, so I got lost on my way back with everything on me that I needed to complete my ship repairs and then died or radiation poison...again. (I read that you can find your ship on your compass at the top of the HUD but I don't have a compass in third or first person view.)
When I respawned my inventory was empty. That's when I stopped playing and went to bed. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I have no idea where I died, so I can't loot my corpse (assuming you can even do that), and I'm guessing the wreckage doesn't have a second pneumatic seal. I'm tempted to start over and just play on normal...but I kind like the feeling of just barely scraping by.
I'm not sure if I was having fun, exactly, but it kept my interest during the hour or so I played. I think "space stuff" is just intriguing to begin with, so that might carry me for a while but I'm hoping to have more luck next time.

You have to repair/make your visor. It scans and has way points everywhere once you fix your scanner.
Make sure you repair your inventory completely before working on the ship.

quote:Ah okay. I must have not noticed it was damaged. I guess I just got tunnel vision focusing on the ship repairs. Thanks for the tip. Hopefully I can find my corpse or another pneumatic seal. Otherwise I'm going to be stranded.
